I am so tired of Chicago! There is a lot of crime here! My father is a police officer and my mother is a news anchor, so I hear about the crime stories all of the time. If I am accepted into NU I will keep my visits to Chicago very small. The only reason I applied to schools like UChicago and NU are because I just genuinely like them so much I’m willing to not take the location into “A LOT” of consideration.

I know I stated the bad of Chicago, but that’s just what I hear about the most unfortunately. But downtown Chicago is very beautiful right about now! Christmas lights every and trees and just people walking around everywhere, it’s a beautiful sight! The one thing I must say about Chicago, which tends to be true about each urban area, you have to seriously watch out which neighborhoods you go to. Some are good and others are beyond bad.

It was about 20-30 degrees today and I only wore a hoodie, I’m so used to the freezing weather. Chicago gets really cold and really hot. I definitely just told you more than you asked for…I should shutup now

omg not at all! i absolutely love hearing from you guys!

i visited this july, and it was really quite beautiful weather. as a floridian, it’s so humid for 80% of the year and then it just gets kinda nippy during the winter. i’m still wearing shorts in december…it’s just sad. but it was warm AND breathable at the same time!

but the city was just gorgeous from where i stayed, right next to the chicago tribune building. i mean, it’s probably just a really nice part of town but it was so cool just looking out of my hotel window and seeing tons and tons of shiny buildings. most of florida is SO suburban so being in the city was just awesome for me. when i was just walking around i felt like i was in a movie (: maybe i was just so excited to visit northwestern, but i also found evanston really pretty. annnnnnd now i’m thinking about the decision… ugh.

Oh, you’re not the only one! I think about my decision all of the time! And when I say ALL I mean ALL! I thought I could escape by going to sleep until I had dreams about being denied and such -_- I try my hardest to not think about it but it’s just so hard!

Aha we both tend to wear summer clothes when others think it’s “so cold”. And yeah the Chicago tribune building is right downtown, I believe. Downtown is great! The whole north side is pretty great! Some parts of the southside of Chicago and all of the westsise of Chicago are pretty sketchy to me.

I have one question for you though Jen, are you considering UMiami? I somewhat love that school and it will become a favorite if I don’t get into NU.

I wasn’t at first, but I’m still not sure. They’ve sent me a bunch of mail and they seem to have a relatively good communications program (I applied to Medill), but I’d really have to do more research. Although it wasn’t on my naviance list at first, it definitely looks promising. I’m hoping for an acceptance at UNC Chapel Hill, but that’s TOUGH for an out-of-stater, and I’d have to wait until early next year for a decision. i just can’t bring myself to do anything college-related until I hear back from NU :/

Whaaaaat?!? Hahaha that’s so funny. But I don’t really get the deal with people applying to both Uchicago and northwestern. The two seem soooo different. Or at least that’s the impression I got from researching/visiting them.

@InsertJokeHere aha ikr, that made me laugh really hard! I was expecting to see sad stories from depressed ED’ers from NU and I ended up on UChicago’s website oO
And as far as them being different, I totally agree! They are so different from each other, yet I applied to both. I love how NU is more well-rounded than UChicago! However, UChicago attracts me because of how intellectual their students are whenever I run into them. Although there are intellects at NU as well…idk how to explain it. But yes the two are totally different. Even though a lot of people at my high school refer to them as “the nerd schools” -_- , which is fine :P

hahaha “the nerd schools.” i mean, let’s be honest. if we weren’t all somewhat intelligent and driven, we wouldn’t be applying ED to one of the top schools in the nation (:

The best school anyone applied to from my school (other than me applying to NU) is Michigan State. So that kind of explains the extent of the ambitiousness at my school haha.

sooo it looks like all of you seem so unconfident about your chances, Im right there with you! But then again all of you probablyhave 31 or higher on the act waaaah

Ive told myself to stay away from this thread cause Im currently going crazy but I cant help it, friday needs to come sooner.

Hey everyone, just joined this website! I had to get involved in this forum. I applied to NU and I am like everyone else…super nervous and anxious! What is this I am hearing? Decisions released Friday?
