Anyone know if Northwestern specified/will specify a date for decisions??

Or is it just going to be late March/early April and then suddenly BOOM!!?? :p

Anyone know if Northwestern specified/will specify a date for decisions??

Or is it just going to be late March/early April and then suddenly BOOM!!?? :p

Last year it was March 24th but it doesn’t sound like they knew it was that day. My guess is it works like our ED did… You can guess as to which day (For ED it was often Friday the last week of school for them), but you won’t be sure. So if it works like ED, and what it sounds like RD did last year from their forum, it will be a nice sunny (Or snowy, cloudy, whatever, depending on your location ) day, and you will check your email and BOOM! Email with your (hopefully) acceptance.

@Crimsonstained - You got accepted ED, right? What’s your prospective major?

Doesn’t Northwestern send an e-mail, days before the decisions saying that they will be out soon or something?? Anyway my e-mail will probably be open from 20th March onwards 24x7!!

And hopefully I’ll wake up one sunny morning(It’s almost always sunny in India) and see a mail from NU saying “Congratulations”!! :D

If it’s like last year, the e-mail will contain a link to a web site that you will need to access to get your decision. And if they release them all at once again … :)

Yeah, I was. It was a hectic week thinking “It could be today” and then obsessively checking my email. The day I found out was great though; I went to the Hobbit midnight premiere soon after I found out. I rivals the day a few years ago that was 1. My birthday 2. The opening of the first Apple Store anywhere remotely close and 3. The day I left for Camp Electric, which is an awesome Christian music camp. I’m, for now, planning on doing biology, and becoming a Clinical Pharmacist, but I change my mind a lot.

We didn’t get any email for ED saying it’d come soon, but it may be different. It’s pretty much always starts at 5 (IF I remember that time correctly) PM EST, so whatever that is in India will be when you can start checking I’m sure people in this thread will start speculating as to what day it is. I think we should bet fake money on the day it comes out and start a faux-money pool :-D

Just don’t worry if everyone else seems to be getting decisions and you don’t. It took hours upon hours, and even a day for some to get the email, and it didn’t mean it was bad or good either way.

good luck everyone, hope to see you in september :D

@crimsonstained–The last week of March is probably going to be a crazy week!! Firstly my final exams end that week and then the admission decisions from most of the universities that I applied to!! (Hopefully I’ll have some acceptances from safeties/matches by then!!)

And 5pm EST is sometime early morning 6.30ish here in India(not to sure), so it is going to be a bright sunny morning when I get rejected/waitlisted/accepted!! So many people here on CC seem to be intent on doing biology/bio-engineering or some thing related to bio!!
I too am not sure what I’ll end up graduating in - have applied for electrical engineering/physics at most places!!

@rapfan, I hope so too!! :)

You guys have finals in March? That’s weird, but I guess your schedule is different than ours. I’ll have to ask my cousin; she lived in India for a while because her dad is a diplomat of some sort.

So it will actually be on your way to school. That will be really exciting if you’re accepted, but your day will suck if you get rejected. But you’ll hopefully be accepted :-D

Yup, our Council(High School Certificate) Exams are held in March!! My last exam is Electronics on the 27th!! Haha - just before the said Ivy admissions date!! :p

Hopefully, I don’t get any decisions until my last exam - cause it will hurt it in both ways. If I’m accepted(I hope so…) then I won’t care about my exams and if I’m rejected - then I won’t be in a mood to write them!!

Read in an article that U of C applications are up by 20 percent this year - any thoughts ? My guess is that NU would similarly receive a larger amount of applications this year.

NU may have an increase, but I doubt it will be that much. Chicago consistently increases their marketing, so they get a lot of people applying that otherwise wouldn’t, whereas NU has a much less agressive marketing technique.

Just had my interview! Went great

Anyone have any idea how important or not the interview is in the NU admissions process? They say it’s “optional”, which suggests it’s not very important, but then it is one way to demonstrate interest in the school…

Let me put it this way - I haven’t heard any one getting admission to a top tier school with a bad interview!

But there is a difference between bad and just not great. Bad would be being disrespectful, sounding uneducated, etc. whereas not being eloquent, or being nervous/awkward is different. Someone can get admission with an awkward interview, but I agree, if the person thinks you’re not worth it, then they’ll let the school know.

I applied RD! loved Northwestern when I visited Chicago a couple years ago, kinda upset I haven’t had a chance to go back and visit! I actually missed the Saturday that the block interviews were set up for (yay for speech and debate tournaments every Saturday!) so I have my interview this Friday! Good luck to everyone!

This thread is so lifeless! :/

Come on ppl. Don’t tell me that I’m the only RD applicant to Northwestern!! :p

Aside from those 30,000 others I’m pretty sure you’re it. ;)

It does feel like a terribly long wait this year, but my fingers are still firmly crossed for all of you!

Well after surveying the ED threads of the classes of 2016 & 2017 & the RD thread of class of 2016, It is pretty surprising to see this thread so dull!! :/

And hence I’ve come to the conclusion, rather self-serving one, that none of the other 30000 applicants are interested in NU :p

But yeah – It’s a VERY VERY long wait, but it is probably the same every year!! :)

Hey everyone! After rejection from a few schools that are on par with Northwestern, I’m not expecting an acceptance. But I really love the “work hard, play hard” (intelligent kids, very sporty and alive campus) atmosphere that Northwestern has. People will probably start showing up here as it gets closer to April :)
