Legacy helps those who are on the border line (for ED); if you are otherwise very well qualified, you should be fine. Good luck!

Meant the “finish” line ;-)

@marleyrose117 Ohhh I’m applying to School of Communications, Communication Studies, hahah alone again. Heard Theatre major is pretty hard to get in though!

Guys, basically the ranking of importance goes like this: legacy+status (special circumstances)> stats> essay> teacher recommendations+counselor report+ECs

@NorthwesternDad do you know if having a parent who attended grad school at Northwestern counts as having legacy?

@hannayogi yes

@hannayogi That’s what I have, my dad went to NU for an MBA, I assume it counts, right?

@hugzUC ok thank you!

@Parthlen yeah that’s the exact same with my dad! I believe it counts, but I’ve heard different things from different people so I wasn’t 100% sure

I’m just wondering, how come they put the official decision date as the 15th and not the 11th?

@hannayogi Grad school definitely counts, however, undergrad legacy is preferred. Although any legacy at all certainly doesn’t hurt!

I’m thankful that both of my parents attended this fine school, one for grad though. Hoping it gives me the extra push I need.

@bamboo17 ok that makes sense. thank you! Yeah, I’m thankful for any sort of legacy, even if it is just graduate rather than undergrad. Good luck to you!

I’m just curious but you still have to be qualified to a certain point for legacy to help right?

of course

one. day. closer. honestly if decisions don’t come out on thursday I will be beyond disappointed. That is the only thing getting me through this week.

Yea thats my point. Essays wont get you in… College counselor said as long as you write something decent its fine. They ofcourse dont just want scores, they want TANGIBLE achievements in extra curriculars, which can make up for those. I mean if you are a good writer, it will show in your extra curriculars. If not, well then that is unfortunate

@siphwe How do EC’s reflect writing skill?

wait, the results will come out on Thurs? I thought it is supposed to be on 12th, which is Friday this week. Or 15th, next Tues.
(actually i hope those decisions can be released earlier, therefore i can stop thinking about it and start concentrating on my finals…)

Can someone give a clear date?

11th is the earliest guess! If not, it’ll most likely be the 12th because NU will be on break after that.

Gosh, please let it be 11th. Who said it’s 11th? Where did that come from?

so have we decided that results are coming out on Thursday?

im scared
