[] Counselor Rec: Written by Vice principal who is amazing
[] Additional Rec: Required to send music teacher recommendation. he’s an NU alum who always says how much i contribute to the program and was excited to write for me

[] School Type: Very competitive public
[] Ethnicity: Hispanic (Portuguese)
[] Gender: Female
[]Income Bracket: Too high for financial aid
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Audition went super well?
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Basically for Beinen if the music professor says they want you after your audition, they don’t look too closely at your grades, although they are still important - I know a number of people who were accepted into Beinen but not into the school itself. My audition went really well and when I stayed to talk to the professor afterwards he basically said (off the record) that he was going to recommend me for admission.
[] Weaknesses: Only played bass for 3 years before auditioning. yikes.
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: All about the audition!
[li] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: So far accepted to SJSU, UCD, UCLA, and likely letter from Duke[/li][/ul]General Comments:
Particularly for Beinen, where your admission basically depends on one person’s opinion of your playing and if they can work with you, make sure you get in contact with the professors and make an effort to learn more about the school and the program. I emailed the professor beforehand with questions and talked to him some more after my audition, and he said he really appreciated that I showed such strong interest (I would hope so it’s my first choice heh!)
P.s. Anybody else here Beinen? My intended major’s Music Ed, though I’m considering a double major in bass and will probably minor in Japanese :D
