Hey guys my mom met a priest at a party last night, and he knew my family from Notre dame alumni dinners. My mom mentioned that decisions came out this week (that’s what I had told her originally and didn’t update her on the fact portal emails still haven’t come out), and she told me he seemed to know that. So it will be soon! Just unsure of exact date.

Last year decisions came out at 5:10 p.m., right after the admissions office closed. I think one year they might have released at 6:42 (18:42) but that might also be a legend from the past. I don’t know if they care whether it’s St. Patrick’s day or not and since the last time St. Patrick’s Day was on a Friday it was 2006, hard to know what they did then too. As far as the portal, that confuses everything. I forgot that they hadn’t sent it out yet, but maybe they aren’t even going to use it this year. Last year was the first time and I heard it was somewhat a disaster since a number of people didn’t see the email asking them to create a separate PIN, or didn’t do it, and then couldn’t get their decisions when they were released. We’ll see. I don’t know why they have to keep it such a big mystery. Just give us a date and time and a simple way to get the decision. Wouldn’t that be easier on everyone?
They used the portal three months ago for EA. You’d think they will use it for RD.
@collegetarget EA decisions were released at 6:40 and the email confirmation of the application said that you will receive an email with instructions on how to access your decision online, so I’m assuming that means portal information
I actually just looked back at the email I received in December from nd confirming my application’s rollover to RD and it never says anything about receiving portal instruction as the date comes sooner. (My email of application confirmation from REA does though) (wait nvm guys disregard that I imagined it I think??? I’m just rlly anxious to find out decisions lol)
okay guys I officially think I am going crazy. I looked back and I found the email once again. I received an email November 9th stating that my application was complete and that decisions would be released in mid-December, and I would receive further information on how to access my online decision in early-December. This email was received in addition to the one verifying they received my application. I did not receive an email stating this for RD, but I’m not sure if anyone did. I actually have not received any emails from Notre Dame since they sent the generic Merry Christmas one. I did however receive an email from financial aid and they said they would send financial aid notifications to Regular Action admitted students in mid-March. Which makes me think ND is playing us and decisions will still come out this week regardless of a portal email.
@collegetarget Sorry, but that’s not true. Decisions were released at 6:42, check the thread ( http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-notre-dame/1870150-official-notre-dame-class-of-2020-rd-decisions-thread-p1.html) from last year. I got an email about decisions being released at 7:11 PM.
@lagirl2017 when did you get the email from financial aid? I searched through my email and couldn’t find one saying they would send financial aid notifications to Regular decision admitted students in mid march 
@AMS9898 I actually emailed them myself because my financial aid was messed up at every school, and I wanted to make sure it wasn’t a problem at Notre dame. They assured me it wasn’t and then included that in the email!
I can only speak for my sister, who applied last year and received her email notification to check the portal at 5:10 p.m. on Friday, March 18. She just forwarded the old email to me to confirm. I can’t speak for anyone else but I don’t know anything about a 6:42 release.
@collegetarget - What time zone are you in? 6:42EST is 18:42 in Military Time - 1842 was the year of ND’s founding. There isn’t a LONG history of using this time, because, until 2015 notifications were sent by mail. That year, it took some students 10 days to receive their mail (even in Michigan) due to a screw up with USPS. But, since they started releasing by portal, the time has been 18:42. (In AZ it’s 15:42 which is 3:42pm).
To further this “when” discussion… there isn’t enough history to know if it will be during break or not, on a Friday or not, this week or next. This is only the 2nd year (4th time) that notifications have been sent by portal.
I called the admissions office like 4 days ago and asked if portal emails were going to be sent and the lady told me that there wasn’t a portal
Ahhh I really hope it’s this week! Notre Dame has been my dream school forever but I got deferred and I’m really starting to doubt my chances :(( I did get straight A’s this past semester and I sent a LOCI but it seems everyone did that and I’m terrified I didn’t do enough to get accepted since December. I just want to know, the wait is killing me.
I kind of hope there is a portal because that gives me time to mentally prepare
I checked the portal I got when I was deferred REA. It said that decisions will come out late March and that applicants will be notified by email. I am assuming said email would include the portal info like the REA did. Maybe the portal email will come at the same time as decisions instead of before?
