I’m in central time. As I said, all I can tell you is when my sister got her regular decision notification last year. It was 5:10 central time (6:10 eastern/Notre Dame time). I know ND’s founding was 1842 but I don’t know anything about any notifications at that military time. Maybe it was just my sister, but hers certainly was received at 5:10 CST, 6:10 EST. All I can tell you is our experience, as I don’t know anyone else’s.
Does anyone know the deferred --> accepted acceptance rate? Bc I know that at georgetown not many deferred applicants are accepted but I’m wondering if this is the case at ND? I got straight a’s last semester and sent a LOCI, but I’m wondering if my chances are worse off now.
I think Notre Dame’s EA deferred --> accepted rate is higher than Georgetown’s, but I’m not sure.
@balletgirl17 what you said about Georgetown is somewhat true… a good amount a deferred applicants do get accepted but because they defer every application, its only a small part of the entire deferred pool. ND is different. Over 6,000 people apply, 1400 get accepted, and about 900 deferred. I’m assuming because of this small number, the acceptance rate is probably pretty high as over 3500 applications are rejected. At Georgetown, all 4,600 applications would be pushed to regular decision with only about 900 actually having a chance to be admitted.
how would they let us know if they don’t use the portal?
@go12er BC just sends an emailed decision so maybe that?
I don’t see why they would have used a portal for EA and not RD. Maybe you spoke with a student aid and she misunderstood your question?
A lot of people seem to be saying different things that the email from ND said. This is what it said (copied) “Decisions will be released in late March. You will receive further information on how to access your decision online in the weeks prior to the release date.” Sooo, released online and we will receive an email beforehand with instructions.
As long as decisions aren’t final yet, DS had a major accomplishment last week that he’s going to let ND know about. There is our silver lining for the waiting to hear!
Cawledge is 100% correct.
ND does not have an admissions “portal” in the same way that many schools do. Where you can log in throughout the admissions process and see your application status – transcript received, rec letter received, mid-year update received, etc.
ND does have an online admissions decision website. That non-portal admissions website is what folks here are referring to as a “portal.”
You’ll get an email from ND telling you how to access the non-portal portal. Once that comes out, you are on-deck for getting the decision in the next 3-10 days. On the decision release date, you will get an email about 7 pm ET telling you that decisions are available on the non-portal portal.
But the non-portal portal will have been updated and decisions will have been available about 20 minutes earlier on the non-portal portal. As you will be able to see from monitoring this thread on the decision day.
That’s great!!! Let them know ASAP…it may push him over into the yes column!!! Good luck!
College Target – I am 100% certain that your sister did not get anything from ND at 6:10 EST on 3/18/2016. Since on that day we would have been on EDT. EST did not exist on that day
Pet peeve of mine is when people try to be over-precise by referencing EST or EDT. If you only/always refer to ET you will be right all 365 days of the year.
FYI, 6:10 “EST” on that day would equate to 7:10 ET/EDT (spring forward). Which would synch up with when ND usually sends out the email telling people to “check your non-portal portal” because your admission decision is ready.
I would just like a decision already, either way, so I can pay the acceptance fee for the school I want my d to go to! She’s still waiting on 5 schools but they’re all out of state so I think our decision is pretty much made already. I guess some schools are so vague with when decisions come out because they have so many excellent students to choose from. Hoping it’s this week and not end of March like we were originally told.
Someone’s still a little grumpy over that lost hour of sleep @331
I’m sorry. I wasn’t trying to be overprecise. I just made a mistake. I didn’t mean to make you so angry. I was just trying to say that my sister’s notification was sent/received at 5:10 p.m. our time (central time), which I thought would be 6:10 p.m. at Notre Dame. Again, my apologies.
I hope we get the non-portal portal information today
If not it probably won’t be until next. When I’m at Kairos Retreat as a team leader, I will already be emotional
For the past two years (since they started releasing online), they have released decision in the portal at 6:42pm Eastern Time (the year of ND’s founding in military time), and then sent an email saying decisions are up around 7pm Eastern Time.
“I’m sorry. I wasn’t trying to be overprecise. I just made a mistake. I didn’t mean to make you so angry.”
Not angry at all. Just grumpy. But it is a pet peeve because people mess that up CONSTANTLY. If you are going to make the reference to D or S time (which is unnecessary 99.7% of the time) then do it correctly.
If you don’t want to worry about doing it wrong, just don’t do it!! ET is always correct.
Okay so I got invited to the spring visitation day and want to know, does that mean I’m for sure in, or just that I have a good chance? I know it’d be very illogical to assume that the all expense paid trip that takes place after decisions are released would mean otherwise (than being accepted), but any feedback about the program and what it means would be great! Thanks!
