-= Official NYU '12 ED Decisions Thread =-

okay so the only ppl who hear back today are either international students OR those GSP'ed. right? xian ED international/quark is gsped

LAST YEAR ON cc the GSp thread was like 30 kids, so far it's only "hear say" that soemone got GSPed. I can't believe all these cc posters and no one has received a GSP letter (assuming they were sent out). I'm kinda panicked because the NYU website said "most applicants will receive decisions by DEC15, but some take up to Jan 1st to be received" What the h---??? I assumed those later notifications would have been International students but looks like they hear first...are the acceptances mailed first...Gosh I can't imagaine everyone else hearing and getting NOTHING???? It's gonna be the longest few days of my life here!!!

^^ yeah, it's gonna be a tough week. especially tomorrow because theres no mail at all tomorrow hahah

I stand corrected. the GSP's on CC have been spotted!!!! Congratulations NYU is NYU and thats huge!!!

yea two girls from my school heard back today and got GSP'ed

ANy stats of GSP's???? even ballpark

the two i know have 4.05ish/4.33 (top 15 percentile at NJ public HS ranked number 20 in the NJMonthly) 2060ish SATs...good recs good extracurriculars...i think one's father even went to NYU. last yr 33 kids from my school applied and 17 got in. that's all i got.

salem, where have you spotted the GSP's?

Slater, quark11 got gsped and he's NOT a happy camper. Paintballin said two kids he knows got letters too. I'm in NJ (I don't know if any NJ kids got GSPED) In the past the GSP letters went up a much earlier than this year. I'm so on the GSP border (I must have read 400 past year's posts) I was thinking I'd be happy with GSP but the more I read about it the more nervous I've get...then I get nervous at the idea of NOT getting a GSP offer...I'm done after the 15th one way or another. Thank God I can't take much more!

if i am the only person to apply ed to nyu from my school, does that give me a better shot of getting in to NYU

my friend heard back today and she applied ED to CAS - accepted.
we live in the same neighborhood...where's my letter?!?!

This is coming from an admissions director on the nyu forum.

We send e-mails only to students living outside the U.S. Virtually all Early Decision letters will go out next week, on December 11 and 12.

:/

crnluvxoxo89, did your friend get accepted directly into CAS or GSP?

i dont understand the logic between RANDOM people getting random decisions. its like they sent out a couple hundred instead of the thousands they have to eventually send.

CAS. it's making me nervous, but i applied to stern so i'm hoping that explains why mine hasn't come yet.

Why don't they just have a web site like every other institution of Higher Learning???? I applied to NYU ED and 4 others EA. Even the smaller school I applied to had a great website with all materials/when they were were received and a nice little link area to check on status. No worrying about the nasty neighbor accidentally getting your mail mixed in with her Christmas Cards...no kid in AP English hearing and you not....no "getting a call from admissions 3 days ago saying they don't have a counselor rec for you". I hope for the best but am expecting the worst and Yah...I think I'd be OK with the GSP thing. CC does not reflect the "average applicant" (For any school) we, for the most part, are savy over-achieving "type A" personalities and those qualities make us better students. But NYU only accepts what like 32% of their ED applicants. Can't imagine most of you not getting invites cause for the most part you all look damn impressive. How nice is it having a little obsessive support group right here on the web??? Wishing the best for all of you. AND PLEASE...Post even if you don't like the news, others (even years from now) can benefit from it. What do you think tri-staters...Monday for GSP? Wednesday for acceptances???

well...i live in central NJ and two kid from my school have already heard yesterday (both GSP) i'm feelin that acceptancerejection letter go out tmr and will reach us by tuesday

Guys, it's a big package. I got in last year. I know. So look in your mailbox, and if you see a 9x12 envelope sitting there from NYU, then you can celebrate. You don't even need to open the envelope.

That's good. Some people get small acceptance letters too, I heard, but I don't think anyone rejected gets an envelope, that'd be pointless. xD

If it's any consolation, it was just like this last year- no rhyme or reason to the timing- I bet the mailroom just works at it's own pace, and things are not mailed at once. I received an invitation to an admitted students reception a week before I got the admission letter. Also, FWIW I know several people who were admitted GSP, and they are very happy there, so be glad if you are GSPed- it will all be fine in the long run.
