It’s hard for me to call NYU out for slacking because of the quantity of decisions I have outstanding, seems industry standard. As an applicant, I can’t help but wish they would expeditiously complete the process. Off the top of my head, I have 12 schools I haven’t heard back from yet. I would say the worst process is the UC schools and Yale. I applied in October and I just got accepted into Berkeley and UCLA last friday. Yale has no tracking system, they also don’t send out application receipt emails. The first time I heard from them was 10 weeks after I applied, setting up a phone interview.

@123amb Yea hopefully. I’ll let you know.

Okay, hearing about Yale and UC schools makes me feel better about NYU application process now hahaha
I really wish most decisions will be before the 15th, let’s pray haha…

Sorry to be annoying, but has anyone received their financial aid package yet? Today is the third full day since my acceptance and I haven’t heard anything. My fafsa says received. I emailed them just now asking about the status of it.

Hi,

I am applying to Stern, currently a freshman. All of my stuff (HS etc) was checked off today for the first time even though I submitted everything by March. Hopefully Stern decisions are released soon!

6 A’s and 1 B+ on my midterm report. Yeah, I am screwed.

I visited NYU today and spoke with a transfer advisor at Gallatin who told me that only about 50 students had been admitted so far and that they were waiting for the offers to be accepted or declined before admitting more. This is just for Gallatin, but it could be a similar process for some of the other schools.

Also, I know it feels like they’re taking forever, but I applied to six schools and all of them notify in mid-May, so it’s not at all uncommon. Try asking for extensions from your other schools before committing.

Fun fact: They told me that I’m the first transfer to enroll so far this year! I guess everyone else is waiting to hear back from other places. I’m personally still waiting on Vassar and Tufts but I know that NYU’s the right place for me, so I made my deposit right after I was accepted.

Does the admission office work on weekends? I want to send my midterm report.(I know it’s really late, but I just finished all the midterms) But One of my professors haven’t replied me yet, I wonder if I need to urge my professor to sign the form or just wait until Monday. Does anyone can give some suggestions? Thanks a lot.

^ is your school on the quarter system? I think you should just wait until Monday.

So does that pretty much mean that I should stop wasting my time waiting for a decision from gallatin and send in my deposit to another school?

Does anyone know how many transfer students they accept?
If NYU so far accepted around 50, I wonder how many spots they have left… and how many applied

Rsxx92, you mean because of other schools deadline or what?

They accept about 30% of the people that apply

No I’m in U of M now. I think I’m just stupid to wait for the second midterm…

Bosbr100, because of the spots…

Hey! So I noticed there are a lot of people worried about making deadlines. Something kind of nice to note about this process is that you can call the admissions office and tell them that you have an offer from another university. They will have you fax or email your letter to them and they will respond to you before the deadline for your other school. I will be making those calls within the next week to make sure that I can give NYU a decision by the 22nd!

Lexieam- I tried that with two colleges including nyu and they didn’t accept it. Nyu personally told me that I was going to have to submit my deposit to the other school, and that if I get into nyu I was going to lose the other deposit and deal with it because “it was all part of the process of transferring out.”

The 50 students were only Gallatin’s first round. They enroll about 200 transfer students, a lot of whom are internal transfers, and most of whom are juniors. If you applied there, wait it out for two weeks and you’ll hear soon enough. Tell me if you get in so we can talk about next year!

NYU accepts about 1,700 transfer students, most of whom haven’t received a decision. When I went to the welcome center, they told me that no transfers had been admitted, even though I’m already enrolled…

Jawarpaw- that’s great to know!! So I guess their admission isn’t as low as stated by other people. Keep us updated about your admission as well!

If they enroll around 1700, does anyone know how many transfers apply? Just curious

around 5,000 apply each year so the acceptance rate is roughly 30% ^
