[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: I think the non stats-based parts of my application were what really did it for me.
[] Weaknesses: My GPA and scores aren’t exactly what one might consider stellar. Additionally, many colleges may see me as a dropout risk due to ongoing health problems.
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I think I showed my specific interest in NYU very well, as well as proved that I am used to overcoming any struggles and can handle anything that can be thrown at me during my time there. Also didn’t hurt that I applied to the program most of the other people end up in as their last choice…
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted: Butler, Macalaster, American University, American University of Paris
Waitlisted: Grinnell, Whitman, Kenyon, Colby, Wash U. (Lots of waitlists here :/)
Rejected: Carleton, Vanderbilt
Waiting on: Reed, Brown
[/ul]General Comments: Knowing NYU’s perceived reputation, I was rather shocked that I was accepted and offered such a nice package when compared to schools with what are perceived as much more “holistic” admissions (Carleton) rejecting me. Goes to show that admissions really is just a lottery in many senses, especially when applying with prominent factors such as health.
