good luck all of you guys.. I know how you feel. I applied ED to Columbia this year.. OMG sooo nervous !!

do you guys find out on the 15th too? and doesn't columbia defer some to Regular admission? that would drive me CRAZY.

omg i had a nightmare yesterday where i got my rejection letter. perhaps my dreams tell the future. ):

we find out on the 15th too and yeah I hope I don't get deferred and then rejected.. that would suck !!

Death to Columbia! lol jk yeah the whole NYU doesn't refer thing really makes me respect NYU more. Defering is such a half-assed admissions decision.

Abe, HEOP is a special program for NY state kids who are economically disadvantaged and have below-average test scores and grades.

Alright, I dont really post here much, but it makes me glad to see that Im not the only one completely flipping out over getting admitted.

hahaha.
raise your hand if youre already planning how you'll channel your rejection into something that doesn't harm you for the rest of your life!

i cannot think of anything yet...

The only thing that will make me feel better if i get rejected is the fact that ill be going to Ohio State, and I will be paying about 32k less a year.

hahaha, i'll be going to some equally expensive school.
and i'll feel better because.
nope.
i'll feel horrid. haha

I think whether i get rejected or accepted ill feel better after the 15th. I dont think ive ever felt this much anticipation in my life.

agreed.
regardless of the result, I'm ready to know.
haha, everyone on CC seems so qualified.
unless i'm the greatest writer of our time, there's not a chance that i'll be joining you all next year.

So, to kill time tonight, what did all of you think of the school, assuming you visited? I mean obviously you liked it alot or you wouldnt be EDing, but humor me.

gwarner, when I visited this summer, I really loved how there were no walls and gates separating the school and the city. I never wanted the typical "ra-ra" football game college experience, and it seemed like a perfect match. All of the students that I came across were really friendly and articulate. I was glad that all the dorms have separate bathrooms and there were no hall bathrooms involved. Pretty much, it seemed like the best atypical college atmosphere, and that is exactly the way I want it.

You sound exactly like me. My sister went to like the most "college like" college, if you know what I mean. The gates, the quads, the frat boys throwing frisbees. I went there, and besides all the frat parties, I was like no way I would go to school here. NYU may not have frat parties, but I think I will prefer the nightlife in NYC over a bunch of drunken idiots playing beer pong. Not that I dont enjoy a good game of beer pong.....

haha definitely. My brother goes to a military college here in south carolina--talk about extreme opposite of NYU. I would definitely prefer NY nightlife to frat parties.

Does he go to the Citadel? One of my friends happens to be down there.

yeah, he does. it's a crazy place, I could never do it.

haha. Well i am waiting to apply to stanford, harvard, cornell and penn after my reejection letter comes so I have about two weeks to grieve before I apply to the other schools. When do the letters start coming out? I know they said everyone should know by the 15th, but when do they actually start sending them out? ahhhh, I may be milking this URM 1st gen thing too much. Does NYU weigh consider that at all?

Abe... chances are that if you are rejected from NYU ED then I cannot see why you would get into Stanford, Harvard, Cornell, or Penn....

:-

Don't forget to pick some other great schools! Don't overlook places like GWU or CMU!

Yeah, Im applying to GWU and BU, but part of the reason I ed'd to NYU was that it forced me to go no matter the cost. And if cost is a factor in choosing I probably wont choose an expensive as hell school like GW or BU, so id go to a state school.
