<p>Essays: Very strong. I wrote about my journey from Cuba to the United States; I came six years ago on a boat.
Teacher Recommendations: I sent five. One from a middle school teacher who’s known me since I came here. I worked with her when I wrote and presented a bill for the FL House of Representatives. Another one from the mayor of the town who I worked with in regards to the law. Another one from a business professor from the college where I took Dual Enrollment courses. Another amazing one from a college professor who said I was “the best student she’s seen in 17 years of teaching.” Lastly, I had one from my social studies teacher in high school. I started the Project Citizen program with her so it was very strong.

General Comments: I’m so happy… Stern was my number one choice from the beginning. I cried when I found out. My math score was kind of low my ACT math made up for it. Also, my essay really pulled me through, and extracurriculars. I used to check the stats of accepted students on this like monthly and used to think I wouldn’t get in. It’s not always about numbers so give it a try if NYU is your dream. You might just make it. </p>
