Official October 21, 2006 PSAT Discussion

man, i really wish i get National Merit; after all this work, if i dont, im gonna get pretty mad...

hmm.. what do you think the worst case scenario score is for 3/4 wrong on CR, 1 on math, and 1 on writing?

77+80+71 = 228 = National Merit everywhere!

haha i definitely hope so! my state (ma) has a ridiculously high cutoff

oh haha, sux to be you in MA.... its cause of all the ridiculously smart kids in prep schools that raise the average.

It's bad enough in CA, but its worse in MA

yes i remember the circle question and i didnt know wut to do i went blank

i took it today

wat did u guys say for the one about the difference of the biographer?

i think i put down that the 2nd said stuff about how his stuff is read later, and the 1st didnt
i dont think this is right, but it was the best one...

man... i think i screwed up on the writing section. I didnt manage my time effectively

I got more than one non error

I got D on the charlotte bronte

what did you guys put for the one about the 2nd hiking passage that said, "What was the author's reaction to seeing to two men?"

I think i put astonishment...

I put astonishment b/c he later describes that they were in awe and their physique

yep I put astonishment too

Does anyone know the Math curve?
I suppose that 2 wrong on the math would be around a 74?

good! that's what i thought.....

i think it might be higher...like 76

Okay that doesn't seem that bad, even though the 2 mistakes were really dumb (I said half of 72 was 36, and found the radius of the circle but forgot to find the diameter)

I suppose there is still a good chance that I could whip out a 225 or higher, since I haven't found any mistakes with writing or CR (Which is super unusual considering I am a math asian).

Oh well, it sucks living in MA.

72 36? what problem is this?

my bad I meant 64 to 36 (it was the square in the circle).

See these are the stupid mistakes I keep making.

According to the practice booklet for the PSAT, one wrong on Math is a 76 and two wrong would be a 73. I think the real curve is like + or - 1 from this.

Ok, don't feel bad. I didn't get the 80 cars of the x+y thing. I made a couple of mistakes in the enlish sections. Thats taking for granted that i didn't get bubble dyslexia (filling in a different bubble than what you want to)

eh...CT isn't much better lol
