Official October ACT Reading Thread

Post all reading section questions here.

probably the stupidest thing i could do: this section was easy. i could’ve aced it but today i ended up daydreaming for half the section, dont know why. guess i was sleepy…

Why did the Hawaiian guy collect the seeds? To give them to the organization to plant, or to study them?

Isn’t it to plant it in that NSF or whatever thing?

Yes, that’s what I put too.

yeah it was so he could restore the species population or something like that

gah i guessed on the whole last passage ffffff. can anyone think of a question?

What about the seagull question, where they asked if the dances were passed down by older generations or something the narrator created.

So easyyyyy. luved seagull passage. I’m thinking 36!
yeah it was passed down by generations!

the dances were passed down by generation (mentioned explicitly in the passage)

Is the curve gonna be good since a lot of seniors took it today?

is it to settle a problem or increase a problem? (i put settles…but now i think increases was the right answer…dont know why i put the wrong answer…)

its definitely increase, sorry =(

the passage was about how something made the problem worse

I agree. It was definitely increase. I got that one about the dances between passed down through generations wrong! I’m always really rushed for time and I was going to go back and check that one to find out for sure but I figured it would be better for me to hurry along and keep going to make sure I would finished. Darnit!

yeah it was increased
i changed my answer to it

Which question are you referring to when you say increased or settle?

^ I’m wondering the same. And I think for the most part this one was pretty straightforward. Except I spent about 13-14 minutes on the second passage, which rushed me a bit for the rest of the test.

what were your guys’ passages about?

mine were about

 1. this guy going to direct a play
 2. about this neural disorder
 3. about immigration
 4. about spruce trees…

…i feel like i had a different test than everyone else?

That was not the test that I got. Everyone I talked to seemed to have the same test as me. That’s very strange.

are you in the states?
