Rejected here

rejected- brown hates my school, thinks we are too 'formulaic'

Did they say that? How do you know?

sunnypenguin, where do you live? Brown said something along those lines for schools in my region too.

How did you find out what Brown thinks of your school? Did they explicitly say something??

Yeah. When our Brown admissions officer came to my school, someone asked her why kids from our region get rejected so much even though we're all really qualified. She said we weren't "genuine" enough.

Wow, a whole school of ingenuine kids. What's in your water? (sarcasm)

I don't know what Brown thinks of my school. We don't send many students to Ivies... I think that the last person who went to Brown graduated from my school 3 years ago. Not that many people apply. There are only 130 or so people in my class. Maybe that will help my admission status. ;) Or maybe not.....

That is pretty harsh jenz. She probably thought that she was just being honest

california bay area, and i don't think anybody has gotten into brown from my school in at least a decade and they told our guidance counselor

can't predict, refuse to. I expect nothing in terms of acceptances just to not get my hopes up.

My city is pretty good about getting kids into Brown. I know two '08s from my school are at Brown right now, and I think about 3 or 4 '08s from the other high school in my city are there as well.

Reading this thread makes me really sad. :(

I wish each of you the best of luck!! I think you should all worry less, because you are extremely qualified. If, for whatever reason, you don't end up at Brown, you will surely end up at another equally wonderful school.

Too many kids from my school applying :(
I don't want to say anything about my chances though, because I have absolutely no idea.

Rejected because Brown is just too important to me. If I need Brown this badly, then they probably don't need me.

I've never wanted more to be wrong than now.

I will get rejected - cos I am scared - got two rejections from Olin and MIT and dont see why I should get accepted at Brown

tedjj, same thing here. me = rejected by MIT......and probably moreschools...
don't see why Brown wants me

What do you think Brown wants? I hear all the stories about the whimsical admissions procedures at Brown, what is one common factor that unites all the applicants?

I thought that the most important factor were the essays... but I'm not sure.

I will get rejected.

I am the second- or third-most qualified applicant from my school, but at least 15 applies. Meaning, I'll get lost in the mix.
