Official Princeton University SCEA Class of 2017 Thread!

Yeah I just had my interview, and it went well! Not sure if I gave off that militant conviction that I am superior to the rest of the applicant pool that they might be looking for, but I was real and I think my interviewer liked me and enjoyed talking. I think our interview was over an hour.

@kim7564 YES. Not my favorite thing in the world right now. Oh well, it’s a crapshoot any way you look at it! :)

FINALLY GOT MY INTERVIEW TODAY!!
So happy…
anyways…
My interviewer is like a celebrity haha.
She went to Princeton for her undergrad and Harvard for law, and now she’s this prolific lawyer.
Did you guys have any interesting interviewers?

^ that is awesome!
I just had my interview, too. My interviewer wasn’t a celebrity or anything, but he was really nice and down to earth. He told me great stories about his time at Princeton and I felt like he really got to know who I am.

18 more days of anxiety :p

My interviewer was a really nice guy. The interview itself wasn’t AWESOME! or GREAT! but it went smoothly
he said not to worry about the interview because it’s not weighted extremely heavily by Princeton

@kim7564 Just remember that it is only statistics - nothing more, nothing less. If the admission offices finds you to be a good fit for the Princeton community, they will definitely offer you admission. I have read of so many greatly qualified students who were turned down and of many whose “record” seemed less impressing but were admitted.
No one really knows what crosses their mind when they read your essays and rest assured that they will give all of us applicants good consideration. And last but not least, I honestly believe that they will not drop the SCEA-admission-rate to something as low as 13%. Instead I could imagine they do adjust the ratio of SCEA-to-RD-applicants-who-enroll towards 1:1, elevating the SCEA-admission-rate back to 20-25% and dropping RD-admission-rate even below 5%. BUT FORGET ALL THE MATHS! If you fit into a spot within their concept of a rich, diverse class with lots of talents and broad interests, then you are in :)

Hey guys… Just happened to see this thread… Gluck to y’all! Despite the intense grade deflation at Princeton, what makes all of you so obsessed with Princeton? Why not Yale and Harvard which are comparatively more chilled and easier in getting jobs because of higher GPAs?

^ I will answer that question once I know where I am going to college.

ahhhh it’s getting close to December and like a lot of you guys I still haven’t been contacted for the interview

I just had my interview last night, and my interviewer said they needed to finish all interviews by December 1st. If you haven’t been contacted there’s probably no alumni in your area, so don’t worry about it! You won’t be disadvantaged if you weren’t offered one.

Good luck everyone! =)

@AZOG11- Thanks…will wait eagerly for that reply :P

It’s curious that so few people have posted on this thread! I think that Harvard and Yale have about twice as many people posting. What made y’all choose Princeton as your SCEA school?

Columbia found out the decision date from the CSS profile. Can someone check for Princeton? I’m not applying for finaid…

@Desafinado The Princeton website says the admission decision will come out by the 15th. Only a little over 2 weeks! Ahhhh!!

I’m feeling extremely anxious. It’s unfortunate that Princeton doesn’t release its decisions till the 15th. I think Harvard’s releasing it on the 13th. All the Harvard people are going to be talking about it, and it’s only going to make us more nervous!

I can’t believe that December of senior year has finally arrived. Well, I guess this is where 12 years of public education leads to. Getting into Princeton would be a dream come true, but the more I look at these statistics, the more I feel doubtful. Here’s to spending the next month completely dedicated to college apps. Our senior year will be so much better when 2013 arrives. One more month of survival everyone! Hang in there!

Best wishes~

does anyone know for sure when the decisions are being released?

the website said BY the 15th, but that’s a saturday, so i heard it would be either the 14th or the 17th. i also heard it could be delayed since the deadline was delayed due to the storm.

What if we didn’t know about the PFAA financial aid until now? Can we still apply for it?

Sorry, papernuke, I don’t think so. They did delay some of the admissions deadlines for people affected by Sandy, but they made a point of telling applicants that the PFAA due date was still November 10th. It is too late now.

Maybe you can contact Princeton and ask that your app be moved to the general pool so you can send in the PFAA in the spring? Otherwise, if you get accepted, hopefully you have a lot of cash put away somewhere!

Actually, I called the financial aid office and they said to send it in whenever you can. All that will happen if you didn’t send it in by the 10th is that you wont get your financial aid package when you get the decisions results.

I believe that the office sends you some sort of email with a link, telling you the specific time to follow that link and log in your account - I am not sure though, but they will provide us with instructions by email  wow this wait is horrible. A little part of me says that I might receive some good news! It’s a very small, microscopic part though haha. We will see what happens.

Guys while we’re waiting and fretting…

I saw this on the Yale board and thought it’d be fun.
