Official Questbridge National College Match 2010-2011

when filling out the common application, do we check that we are applying for restricted early action?

Hi Tiffany–I don’t think so, because Restrictive Early Action would imply that the school we’re applying to early is the only school we’re applying to early. Stanford says to check Regular Decision, but I’m not sure about the others :frowning: Best check FAQ’s and perhaps email the admission offices. Tell me what they say! Haha.

^Shanno, where does Yale specifically state that they don’t want the AP report?

If you are applying to Penn, have you received the Penn ID for MyPenn Applicant Portal yet? I am still waiting. I think I have to submit the online supplement first.

hey everybody, for the css profile how does it work and is it required for questbridge?
also, it asks for tax returns. what if my parents don’t work and therefore don’t pay taxes? what should i do/put?

congrats to everyone who became a finalist!! celebrates

I’m wondering if there are ACT score report fee waivers available? anybody know anything?

also, my birthmother divorced my dad in 1999…so i’m submitting a noncustodial parent waiver to all my colleges because i have no contact with her, and she’s completely unwilling to pay a penny for college (or in child support, which she’s never paid). so i’m not submitting the noncustodial CSS PROFILE.

brown, however, doesn’t ask for financial documents. do you think i ought to just send it anyway…even though there’s no cover sheet for brown?

snowing: as for penn, i think we have to submit the supplement first.

u2tiffanyxo: css profile is a service offered by collegeboard about your financial aid eligibility, and it’s required for almost all of the colleges for the QuestBridge program. It’s expensive though… TT_TT

questbridge hasn’t been that good at responding to questions. i’ve called them and e-mailed them about my questions and they haven’t responded…

sorry for posting this again, but does anyone know if we can submit supplements (northwestern, uva) through commonapp if its the same for questbridge?

Anybody whose parents own a small business/store, what are you sending in as copies of your parents’ recent paystubs or other verification of current-year income?

One questions for anyone that can answer it. Can I fold the UVA supplement and place it inside a manila envelope instead of not folding it and placing it inside a large envelope? Also, why is UVA being dumb and not just require you to send the supplement with the common app electronically instead of mailing a hard copy of the supplement. I just find it really stupid and see it as more work.

oh okay, thanks Shanno and wudanglady! Shanno, i think you’re right. we are to check regular decision on the common application, though I’m not sure if it goes for all colleges. i think im gonna check regular decision for all of them though.
also, for the requirements colleges ask for financial documents such as tax returns. they give us cover sheets where we have to check if we’re giving them the returns, paystubs, etc. again, my parents don’t work, unfortunately. they are disabled. what should i give them?

They didn’t ask for them, so I didn’t send 'em. However, I had to send a non-custodial profile waiver petition, and with that I sent a cover sheet that I made.

@ironturtle. My parents did a profit-and-loss for the past nine months to see how much they have made (then projected the rest of the year) It was a part of the Business/Farm Supplement.

I emailed Yale and they said the ID’s would be emailed out mid-week.

Sure. :)

It’s due to how and when information is transferred between us an Common App.

Obviously, we want this to be streamlined, but for this year, we have to do things this way.

so what happens if i don’t turn my apps in on time? will they still consider me for regular decision at least?

Do you need to fill out a Common App for Northwestern, Notre Dame, or USC?

@JohnRevka i’m not sure USC or Northwestern but Notre Dame does not ask for the Common Application only for a supplement which, I believe, is accesible through the QuestBridge page on the college specific requirements

I was especially unsure about Notre Dame because the QB requirements page states that Notre Dame requires supplements to the Common App: “Notre Dame Supplement to the Common Application.” Does this mean I have to fill out a Common App for Notre Dame?

I think that they might just want the supplement, but i’m not entirely sure on that one. Now I’m worried :/

Yea, I just checked the QuestBridge page and it says nothing about actually filling out the Common Application like it does for other schools so, most likely, it is not necessary to fill out the Common App for Notre Dame.

@tinkerbell14 Oh OK, thanks; I saw that the Stanford requirements specifically ask for a Common App, so you are probably right.
