Official Questbridge National College Match 2010-2011

I have another question to add to the bunch: On a few schools, (Princeton in this case) it says they want our mid-year school report. Clearly this is an error, right? It’s not even mid-year yet.

can i fax my transcript to MIT rather than mail it because i got an email from MIT today which said you can fax the transcript but i just want to be sure?

@ JohnRevka
Yes for USC and Northwestern, you would need to fill out supplements.
USC: Download additional USC-specific forms and mail them.
Northwestern: Download Northwestern supplement and write the Why Northwestern essay.

Hope this helps! :D

Quick quesiton: for the common app, should i send the reccomendations through mail to the colleges or common app? and the common app said that
“Note: Please do not mix-and-match your application, supplement, and payment between online and paper submission. Either submit the application, supplement and payment (or fee waiver) online, or submit them all by mail.”
What do you guys think?

@SwimmingChicken & others Thanks.

BTW I have another question (lol)
On the CSS profile how do you answer questions like this:
“How much did or will your parents pay for your education for the 2010-11 academic year?”
or
“How much did you or will you receive in scholarships, grants, and gift aid during the 2010-11 academic year?”
They might pay (or not) and I might receive money, but I do not know.

Also, questions like:
“Enter the amount of medical and dental expenses your parent(s) paid or expect to pay in 2010 that were not covered by insurance or a medical or dental plan.”

are difficult to find the exact values for, so do I have to enter exact values?

can you guys help me out please? I ranked columbia which requires a common app. my counselor is just uploading one transcript to common app that both columbia and stanford will see. however, on the following link it says transcripts must be sent “directly to columbia” :[College Match Program: Columbia FAQ](QuestBridge)

but that doesnt mean mailing it right?

sanisk, the schools that dont require common app have already had your recommendations forwarded through the QB app

@avakiantz
I am applying to columbia as well, i think columbia wants the transcript by mail
but for common app, if my teacher wants to use paper form, should she send it to common app or the colleges directly?

I think as long as we complete the common app with all supporting information submitted onilne,then we are okay, right? I don’t see an address to send a transcript in by mail (most of the other schools specifiy an address if they want it sent) on the QB website.

@kathryns most likely it is meant to be sent mid-year when it’s available- assuming your were/are going to be matched with your chosen school

So I’m sending out everything tomorrow - scores, transcripts, etc. tomorrow. My top choice is Yale - applying through Questbridge, they don’t require the common app or supplement. However, I was thinking that maybe I could write the Yale supplement essay anyway, print it out, and just put it in the envelope as a physical copy with the other mailed materials. If I could write a strong essay for it, would this be a good idea? Just using the supplement prompt and answering as is?

I wouldn’t; I was considering a similar idea, but there’s a reason they’re not asking for one; it’s because the short answers are similar to Yale’s short answers and they probably feel as if 3 essays are already strong enough. It’s my opinion only, of course.

yes we do have to do the Brown supplement sry for delaying the reply

no we dont. brown doesnt ask for it on the qb site.

@JohnRevka
Np! :D

To those of you applying to Princeton: Are you sending your financial aid info by nov 1st? It says something weird on the QB website about receiving a paper thing in early novemeber, but then it says somewhere else to complete the online financial aid app

I’m confused :(

Princeton will send us their own financial aid packet in early November. there is nothing we can submit to them before they send that.

yeah we can’t send that to princeton until they send it to us

my school didn’t set up the online system for recommenders yet, so i have to print out the forms and mail them. do you guys know where i mail them to? like what specific address? i AM supposed to do that right…

^ oh and I’m talking about the common app lol

Anyone who ranked a college that requires the CommonApp: are you guys writing different essays? or are you pasting in your QB essays?

Would it be completely fine to paste them in or will colleges see me as a lazy guy?
