Wasn't very happy with the rejection. But now I know I will end up at Caltech, so it's all good. Congrats to all that got accepted.

Tip for people who want to go to Stanford: spend your 4 years in high school pursuing activities/awards that are AMAZING. Also, start writing your essay during summer before senior year, and stress "intellectual vitality" in each essay. Cause grades and scores don't get you into Stanford :P

It doesn't seem like you had any leadership or community service?

What qualifies as "amazing"? I didn't spend my four years in high school pursuing activities/awards that are "amazing," but just ones that showed a passion for a specific subject.

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc:

Well.. I didn't really expect this much since my focus wasn't clear. I honestly don't want to major in computer science because I'm really bored with it now after many years. I'm actually more tired than bored. I don't know what to major in....trouble..yes..

wow...troy?

your application is incredible. congrats at getting in.

rejected..

This admitted class looks very impressive. Everyone admitted "deserves" to be admitted, and some rejected probably did too. Please don't claim AA... that just sounds like excuse making.

And it definitely didn't hurt not knowing how to spell definitely correctly.

Decision: Rejected

(was SCEA Deferred)

Stats:[ul]

[] Job/Work Experience: none
[] Essays (subject and responses): Common App essay wrote about friendships and how schoolwork clashes with it (this one was brilliant, everybody I showed it to was greatly moved); Roommate essay was about my experience with my first journalism assignment and how that ties in with my curiosity by nature; Intellectual essay was about my sister's struggles with her amputated leg and how that has led me to question religion; Why Stanford was an allegory using Queen and Freddie Mercury that worked quite well I thought
[] Teacher Recs: 3 rec's, all brilliant. Might have been overkill for three, but Stanford counted Econ and History as Social Studies and I really wanted both of my teachers to write. So I added my English teacher as well, for that "second subject."
[] Counselor Rec: Should've been great, she knows my family and my sister very well, me not as much but still quite well
[] Interview (feel, interviewer and general location): none!
[] Hook (TASP, RSI, Research, etc.): and here is where I fail.

[li] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: See weakness.[/li][/ul]Other Factors:

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: Congratulations to everyone who got accepted OR waitlisted. You are the 15%, the top in the world as far as the Class of 2012 goes. I hope you guys have a blast at Palo Alto... As for me, I've gotten into Northwestern, Claremont McKenna, and Swarthmore so far, and waitlisted at Amherst.
