Deferred: Harvard
[/ul]General Comments/Advice/Hindsight:
Make sure you show interest. I did so by going out of my way to do an interview, and clicking on the links in their e-mails, so make sure you are active in someway.

@farenheit1064 , Hang in there! College isn’t where you go, it’s what you make of it. Obsession over admissions is silly (and sites like these are pointless, to be honest. I don’t know why I’m on here.) You’re clearly an applicant qualified for this school as your scores and awards demonstrate, but it can be the luck of the draw. It might suck but if you’re a happy person, you’ll probably be happy at whichever school sees your potential.

I got wait listed…
@magnificent6
How did you find out you were admitted to UC Berkeley? The admissions decisions aren’t released until March 27th, or did you receive a likely or special notice from them as well?

Decision: Waitlisted

*Where else you are applying or have already applied: other places

General Comments:
Had Grades and SAT scores superior to their average. Oh well **** 'em. If they want to accept dumb kids that’s their decision. The only reason I applied was because they had no supplemental essay anyways. And, St. Louis is the most dangerous city according to US News, the same company that ranks colleges. Congratz to all the smart kids that got in legitly and good luck to the kids that got in because of race or other stuff. If you got waitlisted, you better stick and move because “waitlist” is basically a euphemism for rejected.

http://www.usnews.com/news/slideshows/the-11-most-dangerous-us-cities/12

  • Job/Work Experience: Church pianist
  • Essays: Common App 10/10, one of the best essays I’ve ever written
  • Teacher Recommendation: the first one was perfect, the second one would’ve been pretty grand if you didn’t have the perfect first one to compare it to
  • Counselor Rec: fabulous
  • Interview: N/A

Other

  • Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
  • Intended Major: English
  • State (if domestic applicant): AL
  • School Type: Public
  • Ethnicity: white
  • Gender: M
  • Income Bracket: $100,000 ish
  • Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): really hard working student who has done the best he can from a ■■■■ school

Reflection

  • Strengths: my writing is pretty grand, my recommendations were good
  • Weaknesses: standardized tests, lack of actual decent stuff to get involved in at my high school
Where else you are applying or have already applied: Accepted: Tulane University, Sewanee, Auburn University; Still waiting: Columbia, Penn, Brown, Macalester, Wesleyan, Wake Forest, a few others

General Comments: I think that I would’ve had a better chance if there were more essay supplements. That’s what I’m holding onto for the other schools I applied to. I’m okay with the decision, but I would’ve liked a confidence boost to get me through the rest of the decision season.
