Official Report from USC Admissions Counselor!

So i called the admissions office today because i'm going out of the country for spring break and i've been told to apply for housing the very day you get accepted. i called to present this conundrum, as i most likely wouldn't be able to get my first choices for dorms since i may get my package during the week and a half i'm gone, and this is what i was told.

-2 batches have already gone out for those being considered for scholarships and who applied early
- there are two batches left: a very small one mailed this coming friday 3/14, and the biggest batch of them all (the majority of acceptances and all rejections) two weeks later, friday 3/28

hope this is helpful!

i guess i won't have to check my mail anymore untill april.

thanks, i guess we'll all just wait and see.

ahh
thanks!

Thanks for the update!

Just to clarify, the batch being sent out on 3/28 has more acceptances than any of the other batches combined? I assume that's what you meant by "the majority of the acceptances," right?

i would assume acceptances and rejections would be mailed in the last batch

so does that mean that if you applied early and didn't hear anything you aren't getting in?

i thought people who applied RD (w/o scholarship) are already being accepted?

acarey, yes i would assume that's what he meant when he said that the 3/28 batch included most of the rejections and acceptances, probably just because this batch is so much larger than the others by sheer numbers. as for applying early and not hearing anything, i wouldn't think that means you aren't getting in- just means you're not getting scholarship (i applied in november for the december 10 deadline as well). regular decision people are being accepted already i think, but that breakdown was just a generalization that took about 30 seconds on the phone

I agree, and I applied Jan 15 so I'm not just saying that to try to convince myself I have a shot.

Besides the scholarship issue, I think it varies more by what program you applied to, as some apparently send out decisions much sooner, as well as how "on the fence" they are about your application- While the 4.0 2400s might get in rather quickly, the rest of us may face a little more scrutiny and thus a little more wait time.

Oh good. Now I know when to wait/freak out.
Thanks!

The last batch was for those who applied early? I HAD EVERYTHING SUBMITTED BY THE END OF SEPTEMBER.

I am frustrated.

Wow, so we now know when to expect what.

yeah, i had everything submitted by october 1 too. uy. not looking good. but an application to architecture might take longer... checking my email, arch confirmed my portfolio submission on 12/5..

No More Speculating!!

too bad it wont be a surprise now... we all know we'll be either celebrating or crying our eyes out on the first week of april which sucks to those who have spring break that week. wait... i have spring break that week grrr... i'll prob be moping around the house.

southernbelle08 thank you soo much for informing us!

Very helpful, thank you. Hopefully now we can begin to relax. Or at the least, become less stressed. (:

Does this mean that if you applied before the scholarship deadline and haven't heard back yet, that you're not in?

My status has been "currently being reviewed" since Jan. 16, so anyone can theorize with these two things? And can someone please answer these questions, someone asked it previously and it was ignored.

Thanks

Southernbelle, What did they say in regards to your question about housing? I have the same problem as you...
