Official Rice University Class of 2013 ED Thread

So the decision will be first made through e-mail, then later by official mail?

Good Luck errbody.

I'm with phade..i've been pretty nonchalant about waiting, but now Im pretty anxious. I'd be scared to click email..lol

I hope Rice will secretly accept every one of us CC Rice applicants...

We love Rice so much we're forgoing studying to talk about Rice on a message board!

^^^how will they know who any of us are? Except maybe for me since I use part of my name. I need to work on my AP Lit paper thats due tomorrow but my fingers keep coming back here for some reason.

my teachers/friends keep asking me when i get the decision then going "ooooh i hope you make it" and every time someone says that i just want to throw up i get so nervous. i'll probably go into cardiac arrest when/if i get the email lolz.

Well if they were actually checking out these message boards, I am sure each one of us would clearly spell out our names in the usernames ^_^
Blahhh they all have lives and surely they don't have time to read about nervous-impatient applicants lol

I have a question...so I finally got interviewed on Tuesday (Dec 9). She said she received my info before Thanksgiving, but contacted me just last week. I told her that I applied ED and that I will find out by the 15th. She was like eeek they don't tell us these things...I will be sure to enter the info as soon as I get home.

I am sure it was too late for an interview but I was just like what do I have to lose. Plus it wasn't even my fault. I requested one AGES ago =/ should I call the admissions office and ask them if they received info about my interview??

don't worry about it.

I requested an interview on like september 10th and didn't have it until November tenth or something like that.

I email rice admissions because I was nervous that it would hurt my chances if they didn't take into account the interview.

She said that the rice admin ppl would see the interview in time.

she also said that the interview isnt a make or break factor in any decision and that it won't determine whether or not you're accepted or rejected.

since you requested an interview, they took note of that and they like how you showed interest by requesting an interview.

and seriously, the rice interview is not difficult. they don't ask any hard questions like "why should rice admit you instead of an applicant with better grades and test scores?" all the questions are easy like what are your favorite subjects, what do you plan to do at rice, it's way harder to mess up the interview than it is to actually get into Rice lol.

Of course, the admin officer might be lying just so then people wouldn't annoy her about how it "isn't their fault they didn't have an interview. admin officers sometimes lie.

the penn admin officer lied to my face and said that ed does NOT improve your chances.

Even though Penn admits 30 percent of ed applicants and like 13 percent of regular decision applicants, and it is definetely easier to get into penn ed.

Good luck to everyone! =]
I've been pretty nonchalant about the impending notification too, taking a "whatever happens, happens" attitude... But it's a pretty overwhelming thought that we MIGHT know our fates tomorrow!

pyles_m: I know what you mean! I always have this thread in a tab on my browser. Reading through the threads is very time-consuming, but I just can't help it. lol

madirocks: I think calling them is pretty pointless now, since all ED admission decisions have surely been made. I doubt that the interview was a make-or-break factor.

theendusputrid: Thanks =]

x0julie: I just wanted to call them to put my soul to ease lol...if you get what I mean
I like your "whatever happens, happens" approach. I need to put my brain in that mode lol

I took a "Eh" character to it until like the past two days. I'm so nervous after my friend got rejected from Darthmouth.

but good luck everyone!

Yeah, best of luck everyone!!

"The final "admission status updated" or "admission status change" came just after close of business Houston time the last business day before the Dec. 15 notification date. As Dec. 15 was a Monday last year, the email came at 6 pm EST on Fri evening. I had heard (though not validated) that the emails did not all go out at once, but did go out that evening. As this year, with the leap year, Dec. 15 is a Weds, I'd imagine you should be glued to your email Tues evening. Time depends on your location. Good luck!!!"

An old post o_o

This just got my hopes up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S sorry for an excessive number of posts..

The more I read about the past trends of an earlier notification than projected, the more I'm convinced that there's a high chance that we'll receive THE e-mail tomorrow evening! Ahh, I'm really nervous/anxious/excited, plus a mixture of other indescribable feelings! And I'm sure I'm not the only one. lol

^^^so does that mean we should expect "the email" tomorrow or on Monday?

I am so excited for you all, I sincerely send the best of luck to you! Right about now is when I wish I had applied ED, but hey, everything happens for a reason. Good luck!

Im 5 minutes away from a heart attack.

guys, don't worry toooooooo much.

if you get rejected you'll go to another great school, and you'll make great friends and have a good time and maybe meet a mate and think, "Well, getting rejected from rice was realy not the worst thing that happened in my life, i'm doing just fine."

of course, rice is is really homy and beautiful, has a college system that makes it so that you'll have a great and easy time making friends lus builds comraderie within your college and competition with the other colleges, a really flexible curriculum, small classes, personal attention, club rugby and lacrosse and tennis and baseball that is open for anyone to play, beer bike, baker 13,
has jarret dillard, I would be able to form a metal band with some Houston friends I know who have a house close by so we could rehearse (plus Houston is a great and easy place to scheduel metal gigs), Houston is great for LOTS of concerts and interesting museums and great movie theatres and restaurants (all Houstonians who hate Houston just don't appreciate what they have), great weather (except in the summer, but you won't be at rice for the summer lol), it's really really easy to get roles in plays at rice (since each residential college has separate plays, there's much less competition), Rice has practically no ta's teaching undergrads, did i mention personal attention from teachers, great all you can eat food at the residential colleges, rice kids are especially nice and easygoing, a million other things...

I want to go to Rice if they reject me it honestly is their loss I would contribute so much to the university and I'm really qualified plus a legacy.

Oh well, Georgia Honors program (or Kenyon, uchicago, dartmouth,) here I come. I'm sure you'll be a good college experience.

I'm curious what specific things you like about the prospect of being a Rice student as well.

you can post if you want I love distractions from homework lol

pyles_m: I am expecting it tomorrow...from all the old posts,it seems like when dec 15th falls on a Monday, they send out "the emails" on a Friday...

My theory sounds true but...

....and I am in for a big disappointment xD

theendusputrid: are you from GA like me? That would be sweet if we both got in!

god i can't wait until tomorrow

fingers crossed!
