Official Rice University Class of 2013 ED Thread

Good luck to all of you EDers, I hope to see you here next year!

"Information as of: December 12, 2008"

I don't see any difference in the info or the status o_o

do you guys really think it will be today @5 instead of Monday?

I've got the feeling that this will be anounce on monday instead :-(

earlier in the week, I felt like this Monday but strangely, I think that it will be today. We'll just have to wait-n-c

If someone calls and just asks in general if they are releasing the decisions today, would they answer? =o

yes someone should call them and let us know

disappointment...i still don't believe the lady O_o

Me: when will the ED decisions be released?
the Rice lady: December 15th
Me: any chance that they might be released tonight?
the Rice lady: no

argh!!! I hate all this waiting. The rest of my friends are crying/celebrating and I'm still here agonizing. So far, this is my least favorite thing about Rice

although I love them otherwise <3

How about you try calling them? The lady I spoke to seemed like she was in a hurry or as if she was being forced to talk lol

I got the same deal. The 15th with no chance for today.

So if we are not accepted ED, we can still apply RD? Correct?

The admission statuses are accepted/deferred/rejected. If you get rejected, then you have no chance for admission for Fall 2009. However, if you get deferred, your application will be reviewed again with the RD applicant pool.

I might add though, that if you do get deferred and reviewed in the RD applicant pool, there is only a 5-10 % chance of you getting accepted. Thus, apply elsewhere to be safe.

If you are not accepted ED at Rice then you can apply to others schools RD but not RD to Rice. The only way you will be considered for RD Rice is if they defer your admittance.

I was a Quest Bridge Finalist, and applied to many schools. Each school did everything a "tad" bit different, and the differences are quite confusing. I didn't realize till just now, thanks to the quick responses to my question, that I should be REALLY nervous! I've always wanted to go to Rice, but I'm a Texan resident and there seems to be a bias against Texans...or at least a quota.

Monday is a LONGGGGG way away. Thanks for the info.

Question: Can you apply ED to rice AND early action to University of Chicago. I emailed this question to Rice Admissions last weekend, but have not gotten a reply. I'm worried now that I messed up. I had read on line that in another forum that you could, but I emailed Chicago to make sure. Chicago emailed a quick reply and said it was fine with them, but I'd better ask the ED school. But I've not heard back from Rice. I've been so busy with school that I didn't realize that time is up!

Please relieve this worry. Tell me I haven't messed up!

Yes it is fine. you can apply to as many EA (non-binding) schools as you want but only ONE ED school.

OH MY THANKS! I was about to panic! Thanks for the rapid response. I was just hitting refresh...refresh...refresh... I can be so impatient!
Good Luck.
