Did anyone interview here?
@AnArcticMonkey I did an off campus interview with an alumnus, but I couldn’t make it all the way to Texas.
March 23/24 at the earliest?
@Crimsonrock same. How did it go? I really hope they give a lot of importance to interviews!!
@AnArcticMonkey it went pretty well. The lady was really friendly and I was pretty well prepared. I’m hoping the interviews have a lot of weight to make the process more “holistic”
My son did an odd campus interview and did an overnight visit in January. I don’t know if that means anything in the big scheme of things. Does anyone about the weight of overnight visits?
when is the earliest that they will post decisions online? Mail would take longer wouldn’t it?
My D did an overnight visit and interviewed with a current student last November. She loved the overnight visit, but felt the interview was just ok. However, it gave her material for her Why Rice essay. We have a friend that is an alum and former alum interviewer for Rice. He said Rice likes to see students do the overnight visits–especially if they are local like my D is.
It says last two weeks of March for the decision.
Somewhere it says April 1st.
Now the only key is to be patient.
Best of luck everyone for their upcoming decisions!
@AnxiousMom3501 My son did an on campus interview. I remember during the presentation they said the interview if it goes well will help you, but If it doesn’t it could hurt you. He interviewed with someone who worked there and it went fine. Though i can remember being so nervous for him while I wait. He seemed to just ask the typical questions. I didn’t think they would come out and ask me questions. I was nervous. Why was it an odd campus interview?
I did an on campus interview, it was with a senior and I believe they matched her to my circumstances because we had a lot in common and we really chatted more than interviewed.
Does anyone know at what time decisions usually come out?
@fun1234 I meant off campus. He interviewed with an attorney alum in Austin TX. I guess I was curious if you had to be invited for the overnight visit or is it open to all applicants?
Good luck to everyone. It’s going to be along week.
Now we all play the waiting game. (Hint… everyone loses)
After getting waitlisted from JHU, I am really hoping for a miracle to get into Rice.
@Harryp17 Hey me too!
Same I was waitlisted at UChicago and I don’t think I’ll get into Rice but it’s worth a shot
@AnxiousMom3501 I remember the long week oh so well. My son got in ED in December. Becareful because as the time gets close lots of predictions of dates will be on here. It started on Friday for the predictions and I believe went all the way until Thursday the next week. My son found it hard to study each day the results were talked about coming out. They sounded convincing. I do think last year was the 25th. The results seems later this year for early decisions. I am not sure if they had more apps. Also there was some esther account and my son never received it. Everyone said you should have one so that was casting doubt. We both thought he didn’t get in. I kind of wished I filmed his reaction because this was the happiest I had ever seen him get. Maybe because he had believed he wasn’t getting in and also because he wanted it so much. My son interviewed over the summer and was only invited to the campus visit, but not the stay over. We already planned our visit and could not change the date. He never really got to see much because it rained the day we went. He didn’t even see the dorms and the first day of school they don’t let you eat in the cafateria for some reason. I know there was some program that has already gone by where kids stayed over. I am not sure if people were invited or they applied. Though if your teenager gets in there is owl days to check it out. My son has a plane ticket out but he can’t sign up yet until April. So if he gets in he will be invited. I know visiting the school really sold my son on the place. The students were very helpful and even the teachers were talking to us as we were walking around. He is excited to see who else gets in and can’t wait until 4th quarter so he can relax a little on the studying after the Academic Decathlon during April vacation. Hopefully they can go because his school it is unfunded. So they have to raise money to go and they are only 1/4 the way there. Is he from texas? It seems he is. My son is from Maine and no one from his school usually applies because it is so far away. He is the second one from his school ever to go. Some years no one comes from Maine. If they do it is usually southern Maine because it hard to catch a plane in Boston. It is a more direct flight tha going out of portland. Luckily he has friends in Katy! This makes me feel better about being so far away. I was kind of shocked at how big the schools in Texas were. At first I thought I’d would be so much easier to get in from Texas, but then I learned they could fill the school with first and second in the class and still not have enough room so I feel it must be amazing to get in from Texas. Though since only one has ever come from Maine I also thought that was not great odds.He was glad to do ED becasue he could just kind of relax after he got in and no more college essays.
I’m so nervous… I just want my results
