why is there no hype?
this is the most dead thread out here, we could have as little as five days left of waiting
Right? Lol. meanwhile people on the Northwestern and NYU boards are attacking each other (NW) and reiterating theories about the exact wording of temporary messages in the housing portal (NYU) And here there is dead silence. It is such a long-shot for many that maybe people fear jinxing themselves?
I figure if I stay away from this thread it’ll make me think less about admissions decisions and time will go by faster

You all are right, it’s a little less lively than previous years. Nonetheless, you’re still a very talented group of students. I’m silently watching from afar because my day(along with my fellow transfer students) is shortly afterwards. Pull through, guys!
On a side note, I’ve been talking to some current students on the GroupMe and they are so…damn…nice. Fantastic people. The rumor of the Rice student populace being warm and welcoming is not a rumor- it’s trrruuuueee hahahah

Hi everyone! Applied to civil engineering at Rice. For those asking about decision date, I think it may be this Friday if they’re following last year’s route and doing the 24th (25th last year). It would make sense.
Maybe to speed up the chat we can all say what we put in “The Box?” I put a picture of a painting I made. It’s supposed to be a book cover design for a novel I’m writing. What did you guys put? B-)
I put a Rubik’s cube unsolved by an H permutation (you can probably find the image on google images) Basically the cube is solved except 4 of the edge pieces are on the opposite side of where they should be.
I’m the president of my school’s Chemistry Club (prospective biochem major) and at one meeting we just wrote a bunch of chemistry jokes and puns on the whiteboard. So I submitted a picture of that. I think it’s a pretty good summary of my interests. XP

I submitted a picture of my dog. I know it’s pretty simple, but I decided to play it safe and focus a little more on the writing side
There was a word I kept bolding throughout my essays and supplements. Every now and then it would appear, in context of course. In Rice’s last supplement, I explained it thoroughly and how it relates to my life philosophy. The word was actually a title of a short and very introspective poem, which I appropriately put in my box.
I want to major in biomedical engineeering, so I uploaded a picture of myself building a remote control submarine from 2015 in Germany. It was the event that got me interested in engineering. I think the thread is dead because (at least I) people weren’t getting into other schools of similar caliber so we’re all just quietly hoping
I applied for the social sciences division! And rice is a long shot for me, so I tried to be creative and found a natgeo pic of a a micronesian stick map (like a handmade map of currents) for my box. good luck to everyone! college admissions seem even crazier than usual this year, with every decision being super unpredictable @-)
