@AGoodFloridian just a heads up. No one knows how each school judges applications. If one person looks at each application or maybe one person assigned to supplements only and one to the box etc.
My writing tutor said it was best not to link different supplements and essays together because it wouldn’t make sense unless there the reader read all your essays (which isn’t guaranteed)
@Jpgranier , that seems awfully disjointed and counterintuitive. At the end of the day, it’s impossible to know but one would reasonably assume that if the one person read your CommonApp essay, the natural transition would be to read the rest of your supplements(and consequently the “Box”, which is literally just a picture :)) ) , which stand at only 250-400 words a piece. Dividing the labor unnecessarily like that would be a logistical nightmare, especially in such a work-heavy environment[during application season and what not].
I appreciate the bit of information though. It’d be a shame for -a lot- of applicants if that were true. Giving context to the Box eliminates the need of the admission officer to “guess” how the heck that image applies at all to the applicant, especially if their one and only job was to look at “Box” submissions all day hahahah
@“Sheel Patel” I will have my son to ask the group. I am not computer savy. Though I have heard facebook is used quite a bit that most sign up just to stay in touch with things going on. You may consider it if you get in.
Hi everyone! I applied as an English major. Wishing everyone good luck, and just keep in mind because rice is such a great school, they really look holistically at a student. So, (speaking as someone who’s gotten waitlisted from my first choice school) don’t feel like it’s the end of the world if you don’t get in! That means there’s a school out there that would fit you even better nonetheless excited to hear our results!
I don’t really feel like I filling out the form its too long and Im just not in the mood lol. Short story I was rejected but Im actually glad because it made my college decision much more straight-forward and realistic for my career path and ultimate life goals. I think it was because my ACT score was a 29 and I didnt know we had to send more than 1 teacher recommendation. If you’re applying to these “ivy league” like schools you really need to know how to work the system, but being the first out of 5 kids to go to college and my parents coming from Romania, we only relied on other people’s advice. I don’t know if this helped anyone but if you were accepted into the school congrats! Its an honor that you’ve clearly earned.
Why can I not log into my ESTHER account?!! I never set up my account and I don’t have a pin. When/where were we supposed to have received our pin? Is there any way I can get to it before I can call them on Monday?
@stressed2k17 - send an email to fina@rice.edu from your registered email address with your details. They will send you your ID and after a few minutes you will receive the activation pin. They may not reply till Monday, fyi.
