@Estela00 I had a similar gpa with yours, may i ask whats your major and how many credits u have so far?? congrats!!
Just got notified the waitlist has been closed due to over-enrollment. I’m Heartbroken
@ajaxo710 I’m sorry to hear that It was just as we had predicted. The freshman class was overenrolled and that bled on to our prospects of being admitted. As far as I know, it was the first time this happened on Rice’s CC record (from 2009 until now). It’s just tragic bad luck, unfortunately.
I seriously wish the best for next year’s transfers and that they don’t go through the same b.s. that we had to go through.
Hi, I am a current sophomore at a university in Florida. I’m originally from Houston and have been feeling homesick to the point of wanting to return. My main concern with the application is the SAT/ACT requirements. Am I going to have to take those again or can I use my scores from high school?
In the process! Will submit by Feb. 1 at the latest!
@YSMartinez, you sound like an amazing candidate! I also go to HCCS! I’m looking to stay in the engineering realm (originally intended to do aerospace engineering), and to continue on to their Space Studies Master’s program. I eventually want to pursue Space Policy. That being said, looking at Rice really made me consider Political Science as a major (I feel much more suited to that field, but was steered towards engineering, initially.)
I recently joined the Steering Committee of our school’s Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers chapter, and was appointed to Treasurer. During this blossoming of the chapter, I was also moving apartments and saw a dip in my GPA so I’m going to be working twice as hard to bring in all A’ s this Spring.
I’m also in PTK, as well as NSLS (National Society of Leadership amd Success) and have my LOCs ready! That being said, I too used to be homeless as a teenager in New Orleans, which one of my Profs has some insight to, a coffee chat between you and I sounds needed!
My two major concerns are my GPA (brought down to a 3.1 but will DEFINITELY be back up by the end of Spring), and my highschool transcripts… I recieved my GED from HCCS at the age of 15, several, several years ago. I don’t know what they will look like or even how to go about acquiring them.
Does anyone have any insight on this?? It would be very appreciated. I have a campus visit appointment this coming Friday so I intend to ask all the necessary questions there, but a heads up would be very helpful!
Thanks everyone for this thread, it absolutely is a nod to keeping motivation high!!
