**OFFICIAL SAT Biology E/M June 2013 Exam**

Part of the lavender set of questions was incomplete dominance. if you can refresh me on the other questions i can try to answer

Darwin observed variation and the inheritance of variation. he just didn’t know it was genetic cause. Well at least that’s what I learnt…

@dreambig I was also slightly confused about the ants one… I think I put the predator thing too.
Are you talking about the one with the mouse in darkness for biorhythms?

The ants and tree hugger graph one was definitely that ants killed the predators

The heart one is that the aorta and Pulmonary are two ways, if you were heedful to the answer choices it said that the left and right side are COMPLETELY separated I think that this is wrong because they are not COMPLETELY separated they are interconnected through the pulmonary circulation. And when something is completely separated it’s like our male Testes which both suspend by themselves however the heart is a single organ. And if that wasn’t the correct answer I think that the aorta and pulmonary one doesn’t make sense.

Oh I putthe one with the niches

The heart one was the last choice

Hi guys  does anyone know the answer to the question about mammals breathing? Was the correct answer the one about negative pressure in the thoracic cavity or the one about the diphragm? I put the diaphragm one but I’m pretty sure it’s wrong…

@finnigan - the answer was negative pressure :(

@DREAMBIG Yeah I got incomplete dominance for the 2nd question of the three. The first question asked what could be concluded from the data table… was it that the flower was homozygous for plant assortment? that same question mentioned incomplete dominance – was it referring to plant assortment or color?

For the question about injecting the sperm and then watching the time, when did cell division happen? 6-24 hours? Also, was the process occurring in hours 1-6 fertilization?

@Talvore I put what you said but upon checking, valves are not 2 way. “A heart valve normally allows blood flow in only one direction through the heart.”-quoting wikipedia

What were the answer choices for the Darwin Question?

And for the Dolphin and Cow gene question,
what were the answer choices for the first part of the question?
(and what exactly did it state)
For that i think i put down gene regulation since all the genes were the same, just some were marked out with an asterik. *
I remember the question stating that the genes were from homologous structures and are from the same reading frame or somthing like that.

and also did we come up with the answer for the plasma question?
Plasma is made of 90% water… all are solutes of plasma except?
I put down Exocrin because Endocrin is in blood and Exocrin is out of blood.

@nycgirl117 - Thanks! Oh darn it…I think I’ve missed about 2-3 so far

And you’re right, the process from 6-24 hours was cleavage/cell division, and 1-6 hours was fertilization

So do you guys think that the test was average or harder than average?

What wAs the answer to the valves question?

yeah can anyone give an answer for the question about the heart with the choices left and right are separated and 2 way valves

I believe that the answer is that the right and left are separated. Though the heart is one organ, both of the sides are separated by the septum, and the only way you can get from the right side of the heat to the left side is through the pulmonary circuit. The valves in the heart are not two ways, that’s why they’re called valves. Look at the first definition.
[valve - definition of valve by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.](<a href=“Valve]valve - definition of valve]valve by The Free Dictionary”>Valve - definition of valve by The Free Dictionary)

Satman is correct. Valves are in place to prevent 2 way blood flow, therefore it would be incorrect.

Yep, that’s what I was thinking. The valves prevent two way flow, so that one wasn’t it. The other three choices didn’t make any sense, so I chose that the two sides were separated.

i thought the test was slightly easier than the last test

Not to sound arrogant but I wanted some advice. I believe I only got 2 questions wrong both of which where easy and I’m beating myself up over it. The first one was “The flow of energy through an ecosystem is best described as…” and sadly I put more than 50% remains in it instead of the obvious correct choice it only flows in one direction. It wasnt thinking clearly and was thing about decomposers recycling NUTRIENTS not energy. The second question was just as obvious, “evolutionary wise which came first…” I put insects!!!What was I thinking its clearly fish. The chocies of reptiles birds and mammals made me think of the evolution of vertebrates so I was thinks that insects where less specialized than bony fish. Both of these questions I over though. I was thinking of canceling my score and retaking it in October to get an 800. Now for my questions, those of you who have taken other Biology SAT 2s how would you compare this one difficulty wise to others? I was wondering because I thought it was really easy besides the 2 I over thougt I finished with 12 minutes left. Should I cancel and retake it or should I not because this one was really easy compared to others? For my other question with getting 2 wrong what do you think I will get out of 800, a 780 mabey? If it helps my raw score would be a 77/80.
