Official Sat I Discussion January 2005

sec7......

Alright, I'm not the best at predicting curves, but here goes Math curve: 800, 800, 770, 750, 730, 720, 710, 690, 680, 670, 660, 650, 650...Not gonna even guess below that. Think today's Math is hard enough to be "800 worthy" with 1 or two wrong?

Verbal: 800, 800, 800, 780, 770, 760, 750, 730, 720, 710, 690, 690, 680, 680, 670, 660, 660, 650, 650...Any input about the verbal?

I doubt the math curve will be that nice. I don't think -1 has been an 800 in a few years.

I skipped malediction:malicious I think

post what u put, and maybe I will remember what I put.

Would it be different for the two tests? Or would that take too long and they'd just use one curve

probably two different curves will have to be used. but for 10 Real SAT's, most of the tests allowed a -1 800 break, even one incident of a -2 800 as recently as May 2002. But things could've changed by now.

there was one question(for those of you with the american indian novels passage
it was either the last question of that section or the next to last question; it was asking the significance of of him referring to folktales
(something along the lines of...those not acquainted with the culture of the american indian may mistake their novels for folktales, or consider it primitive)
Anyway, I'm having problems remembering, but if anyone recalls what I am talking about please respond...

I remember.

I said the answer with the common mis something. as in them calling them folktales is misleading and isn't the truth.

do you remember what the other possible answers were?(because I don't remember that answer you gave)...I just remember having some difficulty with the question

Hasn't -0 = 800 for Math and -3 = 800 for Verbal been pretty much standard by now?

Does anyone remember the square with vertices A, B, C, D and a circle goes around the vertices?

How many vertices MAX could the circle go through?

And what was the answer to the "sighted imperialists question"?

I think it could go through 4.

It seems that my version was different from everyone else's...

25mc m
35 v
25 quantity comp m
25 mc m
31 v
15 v
10 m

here are some of the questions i had on my test...

Analogy
Celebrity::limelight
i put spendthrift : wealth

unctuous : earnest
i put capricious : dependable

SC
number 2 for section 2. i had the answer stoicism and jib

number 4 for second 5, it was about how photographers supported movie starts.. i had anonymous

for the one with the scientist checking on the things once an hour instead of once a week. i think my answer had an 'ive' ending... impulsive or something?

CR
for the double passage, the tone i put sarcastic vs objective... i also had an answer for an inference question, how ppl benefit more than just from gaining money or something from the plan.

the one on the science probe going to venus, i had an answer talking about precision.. another one with three choices of I, II, and III, i put b, II only...

please add if you remember anymore. that's all i can remember as of now.

I confirm that I had that version.

If that's so, then last month's curve was extremely harsh on me! I missed seven and made a 700!!!

It could, you can have a square inscirbed in a circle and therefore all 4 points of the sqaure are intercepted.

michael, are you international? do u remember any other questions? it seems no other had this version

what was the answer to the one about the number of #s dividing into 20 with a remainder of two? I don't quite remember what i put....it was a grid in. was the answer 3, maybe?

I had this version. Lots of people had this version. It had the cube one as the last question on the math.
