Official Sat I Discussion January 2005

I have no idea, there were a lot of different tests this year.

This test will be -1/800. There were a lot of trick questions, I even omitted one (the last of the 15 min section with the circles and the square) because I mistook an altitute for a height.

So how do you think the curve will be this time for the Jan. 22 test if the curve was established ahead of time?

it was definitely disperse...they talked about how the funds needed to be spread out which is almost the exact definition

you sure of your assertion hp? how do you compare to other tests (practise included) taken?

oh and by the way can anyone else confirm that the math mc section with the bee question is experimental? thanks

Did anyone get a critical reading passage about a scientist named Alvarez and dinosaurs exstinction or anything? Well, tell me something about it. Thanks

i still think its marshal. at the time i tried disperse numerous times and could never make it fit. they werent trying to spread out or distribute..

ya the scientist one was pretty ez..all i remember is

marine and land somethin extinct at the same time
not a supernova because elements dont macth solar system somethin

the hard one was that passage with the woman african and chinese american writers. so boring too

but they WEREN'T TRYING TO DISTRIBUTE, they were trying to focus on the important things!

Oh yeah--what about the Alice Walker and Maxine-something critical reading?? Sorry--I forgot the Chinese American author's last name. What did you think "idiom" meant?

YES THEY WERE haha they said that there were various programs and they wanted to distribute the money to them...hence disperse...and to marshal means to gather something such as support...not money it doesnt fit contextually

it wasn't a supernova becuz any star that could cause a supernova would be so far away that the concentration of irridium on earth would be significantly less than what it is now. so something must have impacted the earth.

**I got idiom = mode of expression (??)

23 supernova theory wrong because too distant**

i put wrong because the elements or whatever would be wrong and not related to the solar system (wrong wording )

this is what I found in various articles on the internet:

...and failing to prevent flooding, organise relief efforts, and MARSHAL FUNDS. [talking about a natural disaster]

She doesn't merely MARSHAL FUNDS; she invests them in the great educational causes of our day. this is from CNN.

:P so there.

marshal means to GATHER...or GATHER SUPPORT FOR...it has nothing to do with the actual distributing of funds which was the fundamental part of the sc question.

:P i guess we'll just have to see what collegeboard has to say in a few weeks.

but if u look up "disperse funds" on google u get

States disperse funds to local educational agencies for various purposes including

wouldn't that seem more relevant considering the context?

lol... i have no idea anymore. TT__TT

exactly excalibur thank you! i agree
