Official Sat I Discussion January 2005

also for the native american/american dream test

"7.there wz a question bout how the author of para 2 wud respond to tht of para 1...i dun remember properly..."
something about lashing out into the world: the first would respond that it would waste even more of the workers personal/private time

"2.why the author uses "traitor""
because they adopted some values of another culture or whatever

"3. the one with the I, II, III choice..it wz either IIonly or II and III"
i put II only because it was about trusting them to work responsibly and independently. the other two were something like "consulting her before using a particular methodology" and the other one was even a little more far fetched.

ohh...no i meant tht the compulsive one wz rite..i wrote something else...i dont remember.. and wat were the other choices for the hypothesis: Proof one...doez n e body remember??.. i think ur answer is correct ontolome ..

Ontolome...the 7 question was actually "the first author would respound that the person would act like the bossess he hates" (sorry for horrible paraphrase)...it said this directly in the last paragraph of passage 1.

Your number two and three are correct.
and I put compulsive for the scientist one. what was it supposed to be?
You are correct.

Actually now I remember, does anyone know the answer "compulsive" scientist in sc in the native american test? (i think I am wrong)

Thank you for saving me from a long reply. You are correct.

Compulsive: Characterized by the irresistable impulse to act.

Saflamilke, you are correct.

shoot....that's two wrong so far :/

at this point I missed the "dovish" sc and "sanctimonious" analogy...where there any other hard ones that we might have missed? Also, was anyone suprised at how easy the second verbal was aka the last analogy was palpated: sense or something like that?

I did not get "palpated:sense" for the last one.

Thus far, I might have scored one wrong (if Dmitry is right), and maybe two but I cannot remember the answer I put.

why was it compulsive?
i can't remember the question. Was there any question about scientist? i can remember one about biologist.

yeah the sc waz about a scientist or biologist or someone...who wud keep going aftr every hour to check on something which wud actually take weeks to change..so thts y he was compulsive

Collegiated,

Yes, the question was regarding a scientist who checks for changes every two weeks when changes only occur in a month.

Compulsive fits the blank best, I think.

There was a question about the least number of smaller cubes could make by cutting up a larger one.
A.2
B.4
4.8
D.something i forgot

Well everyone is saying its 8 but im going to have to disagree.

ANYWAY the answer has to be 4. Think about a 6 by 6 cube. You could cut it into four 3 by 3 cubes, i hope im right! 6x6=36, 36/(3x3)=4

palpable::perceived.....trying to remember answer....oh yes, i put traumatic::shocked, although i was in doubt :/ arghhhhh

palpable:erceived.....trying to remember answer....oh yes, i put traumatic::shocked, although i was in doubt :/ arghhhhh

hmmm/// something palpable is easily perceived, but something traumatic causes shock, or results in shock, but nahh..

i realize it's an unlikely connection, but what better answers were there?

On the one with the boat rowing at 6 mph in the water, against a current of 4 mph, my answer came out as two gallons.

Fragile: something easily broken.

That is the answer.

i see.....damn. that's 2 or 3 mistakes now :(
