Official SAT March 10 Math Discussion

^^ i put that

was it an empty set?

Zero is even... I learned that in Algebra II. I'm pretty sure... unless my teacher taught us something that wasn't true gasp

thanks aquamarine and cocnutblue!

chinnu: It could not be an empty set beacuse it said the UNION, if it had said intersection, then yes it would be empty, sorry bro

Doesn't union mean the combination of both sets... so why is it empty set?

For those of you who had the experimental in the math section... which one was the experimental? I had two math sections in a row, im hoping that it was the first of those two... i think section 6 or 7... Was it the one that asked, for the last question: There are 3 points, which of the following CANNOT be true : AB+AC>BA (this might not have been a choice, just showing that these are what the answers looked like).

Oh, and was 4/15 (A) an answer? or was that in the experimental section... I can't remember

matt i had experimental in math
and i had that AB CA thing
does that mean that is the
experimental section?

matt:

I did not get the 3 points question so I'm guessing that was your exp section

aquamarinne: 4/15 was the answer

Oh, and was 4/15 (A) an answer? or was that in the experimental section... I can't remember

yes, 4/15, and it wasn't experimental, i had that Q and i didn't have experimental math.

I hear the experimental math had lots of probability and combination Q's, including one about desk arrangements...

for the union one i put (1,2,3,4) is that right?
bc zero is neither even nor odd right?

yess i had the desk arrangement one
i had nooo idea what it was

Hahaha. I got pwned by the experimental. I repeat: it better be experimental or else I will have a horrendous math score.

for the union one i put (1,2,3,4) is that right?
bc zero is neither even nor odd right?

yes, thats the right answer, but your reasoning is a little off. zero is even, but it's not POSITIVE :)

How the heck is zero an even number? that's ridiculous.

How the heck is zero an even number? that's ridiculous.

because it's of the form 2x .. x = 0 :P. odd would be 2x+1

and mainly it's a convention thing. just like 1 not being a prime and 0! = 1..

i got screwed over during math. my contact seriously starting falling off my eye and i had to cover my eye and read everything with like one eyeball the entire time. it sucked.

but is the answer the 1,2,3,4 one

i always thought 1 was a prime and 2 wasnt, but this weekend while i was doing a practice test i understood =)

okay so zero is even but not positive. thanks! math is looking a bit brighter for me

omgosh for the {0,1,2,3,4} question... did it say that the even/odd numbers were POSITIVE?!?!

cas if it did... crap.

omgosh for the {0,1,2,3,4} question... did it say that the even/odd numbers were POSITIVE?!?!

cas if it did... crap.

yup, sorry :(

wait... was the answer for the chinese daughter story unconcern or ambivalence??

because the meanings are like the same!
