Official SAT Subject Test - Math Level 2 - June 2015

How you guys been doing so far studying for it in the last month of time available?
Suggest the best prep book available.

Kindly share some TI-Graphing Calculator programs that might be useful here. Thanks.
WE WILL BE DISCUSSING OUR TEST EXPERIENCE AND SCORE HERE.

ALL THE BEST TO ALL !!

(Hope this Thread helps all the person taking this round, letā€™s make it happen. YEEEAAAAaaa)

After the june test is over feel free to discuss questions and give your thoughts

Iā€™m dying with the Barronā€™s Math book here. I donā€™t think I can finish it in time. Though, since I have taken the PR tests and Barronā€™s diagnostic test and the the results werenā€™t so bad, Iā€™m not too worried about it.
About the prep books, I hate the PR book with a passion. Itā€™s pretty terrible. Barronā€™s is way too hard, even though itā€™s a lot more comprehensive than the PR one. Does anyone have any other suggestion?

Everyone speaks of how Barron overpreps you - and it does. But at the same time it only has 2, maybe 3 practice tests from what I remember so if youā€™re like me and youā€™re just absurdly slow at going through the problems, maybe consider getting Dr. John Chungā€™s SAT II - itā€™s got 57 ā€œtipsā€ in the front, which is just ways to solve the most common question types on the test, and then TWELVE, 12, TWELVE practice tests. While Iā€™ve noticed the tests arenā€™t totally similar to SAT format (no roman numeral questions, for one) Iā€™m hoping they will help me up my speed and accuracy. Iā€™d say continue using Barronā€™s for overall coverage of topics? But get another prep book for practice tests if you find yourself consistently pressed for time.
(for reference, the first time I took the test, I only prepped with Barrons, was getting ~650 on the practice tests there, got a 730 on the actual test, which is only 50th percentile for the Math II soā€¦ Barronā€™s was definitely harder, it prepares you wellā€¦ I was just too freaking slow and had to skip over 6 questions. Iā€™m retaking it in June and hoping for a 800 this time!)

***also, I did download some calculator programs but Iā€™d say they donā€™t save that much time or help that much (actually slowed me down a little because I had to question if I wanted to use a program for a couple questions and the deliberation cost me time), except for the equation solver that comes with the TI-89 anyway.

Wait why does everyone keep saying Barronā€™s is hard? I got a 790 on the diagnostic pretty easilyā€¦Also, definitely not that good at math, soā€¦

@Smargent Well, Baronā€™s is hard to me because it provides way, way too much information, not that its problems are particularly hard per se. Though that perceived hardness of Baronā€™s can also be attributed to the lack of time since Iā€™m balancing finals and SAT 2 at the same time. Baronā€™s Chemistry is even worse than its Math 2. My major heavily involves Chemistry, and Iā€™m having a hard time with all of that information.
@deerHan I donā€™t know, there seem to be two completely opposite opinion about Dr.Chungā€™s. Some people praise it as their saviors. Some say that itā€™s trash and full of mistakesā€¦ Though I notice that PWN the SAT Math Guide always receives the best reviews.

@deerHan what are the score you get from the practice test of John Chung, im going throught over it as well. I think his tests are kinda hard but the tips is very usefull for me.

I think most of the criticism of Chungā€™s books are based on his regular SAT prep books, not subject tests. PWN does not have a subject test book.

Dr. Steve does have a subject test book. He does good work for the regular SAT so Iā€™m expecting good things from his subject test book.

@Synonyms I havenā€™t seen any mistakes so far, but I am only a fraction of the way in. The tips are really useful though!

@dopefresh Iā€™ve only taken 1 so far with not much studying before and got a 660, so definitely need to improve on that. His tests do seem pretty difficult to me as well so hopefully that ends up being a plus on the actual test. My only concern is that his question format doesnā€™t seem very close to collegeboard (no roman numerals, maybe not all the same types of questions/coverage of material?), what do you think?

I went over this practice test, donā€™t really no if itā€™s accurate or not:----> http://www.cimat.mx/~gil/docencia/2014/algebraII/guia_final/exam7.pdf

I only have a Princeton review book from 2007-2008 which might be easier than the 2015 test is going to be, so do you think it would be too late to order the Barrons 2015 one for the June test?

@JuicyMango The general consensus is that PR is definitely (a bit) easier than the actual thing, so you may want to consult another prep book. At this point in time, I think itā€™s a bit late to start with Barronā€™s, but if youā€™re a fast learner and need to review the mathematical concepts, Iā€™d say go for it. Just remember to allot lots of time for it.
If the problem is the time constraint though, you may want to look at other books that offer tips like the above-mentioned Dr.Chungā€™s, if itā€™s as good as deerHan and CHD2013 said.
Iā€™m still dying with Baronā€™s Math here. Why is that thing so long? continue to procrastinate by studying for Chem

^Haha thanks :). I have a lot of time on my hands since all of my AP tests are done so Iā€™ll definitely (hopefully) be able to finish the Barronā€™s book fully. I donā€™t think time constraint is a problem for me as of now.

Btw disregard the link to that practice test because after taking it, its definitely WAY harder than the actual SAT math level 2 test. It used De Moivres theorem for one of the problems :/.

How well would i be prepared if i solved all of DR Chungsā€™s tests?
And does anyone have any experiance with the book ā€œ15 Realistic Sat Math2 by rusen meylaniā€

@guy6127 I would say Dr. Chungā€™s prepares you skills-wise but as Iā€™ve mentioned above its test format is a bit different from collegeboard so I would suggest going through another prep book as well or looking at the released sample questions/the official collegeboard prep book.

@guy6127 the 15 realistic sat math2 from others review I heard that it is totally difficult compare to the real test but it would be a good practice if you are really looking for the difficult problems

Anyone can send me Barronā€™s Test, please? I canā€™t order book now :frowning:

@zoannguyen Itā€™s on crackSAT. Google it. Itā€™s against the rule to post illegal material here.

@Synoyms Thanks so much!!!

@JuicyMango Where the heck did you get that test from? I could only finish, like, 35 questions on it before time ran out. And I usually have 30 or so minutes to spare on other practice tests! That thing is insane.

@ypmagic No, itā€™s most definitely not the Baronā€™s diagnostic test. I did that already and got an 800 (barely, though) with 15 minutes to spare. This thing is even worse than that one.
