**Official SAT World History Thread 2014**

I remember there was a passage on the crusades. Was the answer something like they couldn’t get enough people to stay in the conquered areas?

Yes I believe so. That’s what I put so let’s hope it’s right haha :>

@williamsmithers Hopefully it’s right! For the question asking Islam’s long term effects on South Asia, what did you put? People said it was the number system, but I thought it was languages (urdu in Pakistan and stuff).

I think urdu was created due to Akbar’s Mughal Empire. Also, it asked the long term effect of Arabs in South Asia not Islam.

Eight more days until scores come out! Panicking now :(

Were you supposed to copy that “I agree to terms and conditions etc.” at the end of the test in cursive or was printing it fine? I was kinda confused.

@KA9812 printing should be fine! Any guesses on how lenient the curve may be?

I think it will be pretty lenient, everyone said it was the hardest WH test they have ever taken so the curve will be adjusted for that. eg: maybe 75+ correct=800

Wow I am an excellent history student and I was amazed when I found myself struggling with this test!
Some of the factual or non-thematic (Non-AP World!!) questions gave me some serious grief. I think the College Board should surely have made the Subject test like the AP World test just harder, as in still theme/big picture/critical thinking based, just more difficult. After all, we didn’t take a WH Subject Test class all year!!
They kinda screwed everyone over by putting a lot of strange fact based questions that I would wager most people had difficulty on. I pray to the history gods that the curve will be lenient

I thought they were out of their minds because this test was nothing like any of the practice tests I took. Even though I never took AP World, this test was completely out of this world. Like 40% of the q’s were passage based which slowed me down so much. The CB were probably high when they made this test.

One more week until scores come out! I’m terrified :frowning: The questions were way too specific and so many of them had long passages! I hope there will be a really good curve, or I’m done for.

The thing is, I am totally fine with this test having a lot of strange, fact-based questions. Afterall, it is the subject test – not an AP. I just don’t understand why they put so many passages in there (some of which were really hard too). Usually I would have at least 10 minutes after every test to check over my answers, but this time, I had around 2 or 3 minutes…

Yeah I had 18 and 16 minutes left when I was practicing at home with previous tests and I was distracted. I had 3.5 minutes left on this one.

Do you think anything above 700 is good for not the most selective schools, but those relatively hard to get into?

yeah definitely. I wouldnt worry about this test at all if youre a solid student all around. it’s not gonna make or break you as an applicant by any stretch of the imagination.
Guys I suggest in general to not worry too much about this test. You’re success in life doesn’t not depend on how well you do in SAT II tests, and where you go for your bachelors degree will not define you as well, no matter what your counselor/parent/teacher may insist. it’s about what you learn in college that is important, not what colleges name is on your diploma.

thnx for the advice, i really appreciate it and good luck to everyone, hopefully everything will be fine

did you guys use a prep book for this exam or did you just look at your ap exam material?

@college123college AP exam material. Actually I didnt really study for it. I was a great student in AP and remebered like 90% of the material. I mostly just flipped to random pages in my AP Barrons book to see of I knew what they were talking about or not.

I self studied AP World History with the Princeton Review book, and SAT World History with the Barron’s book.

And ugh, my friends said that the curve will not be any more generous than those of previous years. Way to stress me out!
