OFFICIAL saturday PSAT discussion

Can there be any benefit from doing well on the PSAT's as a sophomore, or is this score even recorded? I feel fairly confident about my performance.

You'll get a lot of mail from colleges, and you can use your score for summer programs. Other than that, there's not much you can use the score for.

You win a cookie.

Gimme Teh Cookzie

erm, It's a metaphorical cookie. It's like... food for your soul or something like that. You can eat it, or pawn it off to St. Peters so you can get into heaven.

Depends on your high school SWK.

In our school district, scoring above a certain threshold (changes every year) on the sophomore PSAT makes you eligible for the district National Scholars program which is a PSAT/SAT review course. The course is conducted for two weeks in the summer and every morning and weekend of the school year up to the date of the junior year PSAT. The teachers are experienced in test prep and the cost is nominal ($125). Given that most review courses of this intensity can cost thousands, this is definitely incentive to do well on the sophomore sitting of the PSAT. Have your counselors discussed any district incentives with you?

what did you guys get on the one that was like " What do the words "i thought" and 'she seemed' show" in the telepathy one? I put her mother was trying to mislead her but i know thats not right.. and the other one was the painted house one where it said what did the last sentence show? - i put changing of time

UGH I hate CR

silmanixe: "things weren't as bad as they seemed" something like that

the "i thought" and "she seemed" imply that this wasn't really how things were

I think I probably got screwed over the most by CR. I def. did not say change of time.

Sonar is most definitely right.

hey guys on the saturday psat, i noticed how on the writing section there were many Ds and Es, esp last column. is this the case to any of you?

i dont think that was the case for me. But in the beginning i got many As.

oh well. but on the same section, did u feel that the beginning revision and context q's (all of them) were easier than the last couple error ids? and on the very last question, did u say that the phrase about the brooklyn bridge should be omitted?

Yeah i said that it should be omitted.

OMG I just realized that i missed that -5,0 5,0 something question, I ROTATED TEH DAMN THING LIKE ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!! GOD

Good thing you know the PSAT curves :P

how about that grid-in with finding the new average of the chains..
i had put down 12 but i heard some had put down 11?

i think i put 12

i forgot.

Yea it was definetly 12

yup 12

72/6 = 12
