Hi I am a spring admit who is going to the fall program for spring admits.
I’ve heard that the classes there are a little bit easier.
So would this load too heavy?
EnglishR1A(4)
Math1A(4)
Geography20(4)
Socialogy(4)
which add up to a total of 16 units. Is it too heavy…?
I would appreciate you guys’ advise…

bump, as we approach Telebears Phase II I’m still quite concerned about difficultly/effectiveness of schedule. Is Film a good class to take to fullfill R&C B requirement (is it too demanding?)? And how are the Chinese lang classes at berkeley? Thanks for any answers!

I am a Nutritional Science major and am planning to take:

Chem 1A (4 units)
Rhetoric R1A (4 units)
Intro to Nutrition (3 units)
Plants, Agriculture, and Society (2 units)
Freshman Seminar (1 unit)

Does this sound reasonable? Thanks.

siukityu211: Okay so for english it’s a crapshoot depending on which professor you take. Math 1A don’t get the professor with the funky last name, try and request Borgoin because the foreign guy is a lot tougher I heard. I’ve heard bad things about geography from my friend who was in FPF last year. Sociology 3AC? I heard the professor is easy. All this is from word of mouth and ratemyprofessor.com though so take my advice as you will.

maybe I’ll see you in FPF this fall. =)

Hi, I’m an incoming frosh to L&S (undeclared, leaning to non pre-med IB). But I’m thinking of transferring to CNR. I read that it was easy to do, but I have to wait a semester, right? I passed out of math forever and I passed out of one semester of biology (but there are no openings). I passed Entry Level writing and the history and institutions requirements. But here are the classes I’m thinking of taking:

Chem 1A - 4 units with Majda (Physical Science req and major req)
English 1A - 4 units with Drosdick (RC req or Breadth 1 for CNR)
ESPM 6 - 3 units with Chapela
OR ESPM 2 - 3 units with Banfield (ES req for CNR)

In addition, there are a bunch of ESPM classes that satisfy the ESPM Social Science Core. I can’t decide between them. Also, I think in CNR I don’t have to do all of the 7 breadth requirement thing, right? That is because L&S is more “diverse,” right? I’m just a little confused on requirements and how many I’ve done and also how many relate from L&S to CNR.

Any advice on teachers, difficulty of classes, suggested classes, switching to CNR from L&S, etc. would help. Thanks.

Hey, I’m an incoming frosh to the CoC (Chemical Engineering major). I tested out of about half my breadth requirements and the RC requirement, so I thought I should just get Physics over with a semester early. Here is my prospective schedule:

Chem 4A - 4 units (required)
Math 53 - 4 units with Frenkel (tested out of 1A and 1B)
Physics 7A - 4 units with Ramesh
Anthro 2AC - 4 units with Wilkie
Chem Eng C96 - 1 unit seminar

Any advice on the teachers, class difficulty, or possible rescheduling? Thanks a bunch in advance!

I’d strongly recommend against taking Chem 4A and Physics 7A together 1st semester as an incoming freshman. That’s a tough courseload + labs, and you’re still getting adjusted to life on your own.

I’m in fpf…

Intro to biological anthro-richards (4 units)
English R1B-miller (4 units)
calc 1a-cherkassky (4 units)
intro to comparitive politics-sinek (4 units)

I want to keep my gpa relatively high…so i’m not sure if this courseload is too difficult. Also, I heard that cherkassky is really hard…so I might switch to 16a. One more thing…is anthro 3ac better than intro to biological anthro…? and what are the chances of me being able to get schedule changes for math and anthro…since it is in the extension program?

@katelyn

fpf classes are smaller/more personal/more like high school classes, so I wouldn’t worry too much.

Anyways, if you switch out of math 1a, you’ll close off a lot of options. If you know you’re not a science major, go ahea with 16, but if you still want to consider some science majors, I suggest you stick with math 1a. And you schedule looks fine to me.

Are we allowed to switch (math) discussion sections anytime? Like at the end of October for fall semester? When would be the latest to switch?

blueducky: It really depends on your professor/GSI. talk to your GSI first. for example, my econ 1 GSI allows us to switch between m/w and t/th discussions.
