Schedule for entering freshman (pre-Econ, pre-Haas)

Stat 21
ESPM 50AC
PAC 164A
Physics C10

Total 114 units

(goin for Econ/Haas, have already finished requirements for Calculus and Econ 1 via AP credits)

Also, the Econ counselor told me I can't start on the Econ 100/101 series till second semester. Phooey. And I don't want to take UGBA 10 till maybe next sem, cuz the curves will be a bit more forgiving (supposedly???). So I'm just spacing out the pre-req's, taking it slow.

Is it too easy? Too hard? What should I sign up for during CalSO (max 10.5 units)? And what should I phase II?

Thx in advance

Hey I’m like in the exact same situation as you, except I think I’m going to double in Stats/Haas, instead of econ. I can’t really answer any of your questions since I’m in the exact same position as you, but I’ll tell you what I plan on doing so you get an idea of other people. Here’s my schedule that I had planned:

MATH 53
CHINESE 7A
Physics C10 (haha maybe we’ll be in the same class)
Decal?

I’m taking my life sciences breadth and my AC req over the summer, that’s why I’m giving myself a little more free room. I plan on taking UGBA 10 in the spring as well. My schedule is pretty light because it’s the first semester. I’m not sure how the whole decal thing works, so I might end up just putting another breadth in there like PHILOS 12A. Do you know if the class we use to fulfill American Cultures can also fulfill a breadth requirement?

Yes to that last question. I looked it up. But hey man, I hope I get a chance to meet you.

I also hope someone helps us out lol

Sorry to burst your bubble, but ESPM 50AC and PACS 164A are both pretty full.

****in hell. Just checked the online catalog of classes. You’re right lol.

It took me forever to find some interesting classes that all fit together in my schedule. Guess I’m back to looking…

Ok but should I phase 1 Stat 21 or Physics C10 or both?

it’ll depend on what other classes you are planning to take. Priorities you classes in terms of classes you need for your major and those that can be replaced. Those that are essential for your major would be Phase 1’ed.

Stat 21 is a major requirement for Econ at least, so if you plan on majoring in econ, I would definitely Phase 1 that.

Isn’t Physics C10 the “physics for future presidents” course or something? I heard that was reasonably popular, so you may want to Phase 1 that as well. Not sure on that though.

So upon learning that ESPM 50AC and PACS 164A are full, I’ve decided on these classes for my first sem of freshman year. Just to remind you, I’m pre-Econ, pre-Haas.

I’m able to waive out of Econ 1 and Math via AP credits. Is this schedule too easy? Too hard? Just right? And what should I Phase 1 and Phase 2? Thanks!

STAT 21
PHYSICS C10
ENV SCI 10
ANTHRO 2AC

They’ll probably open more seats in ESPM50AC since some of the discussion sections are only about half full. Either that or they’re going to be cancelling some sections. I think that class is usually geared towards freshmen so they may just be saving spots until freshmen start having CALSO.

I think the waitlist is already around 50 people, that’s 33% of the class size.

ok well assuming i can’t do ESPM 50AC (takin’ the pessimistic view here lol), what should I Phase I?

bump, m’dawgs!

oh nvm.
I think that looks good

Maybe this thread can turn into veterans commenting on us incoming freshmen’s pre-haas schedules:

Here’s mine, also my Calso is this Friday:

Chinese 7A (does anyone know if the Chinese 7A class is taught in Chinese? I wasn’t able to find info on that)
Math 53
Physics C10
Freshman Seminar (I have 3 that I’d like to take so chances are I’ll get into one of them)
Decal

I’m taking my life sciences and AC/Social Science reqs over the summer.

Is this good enough? I think it’ll amount to around 13-14 units. When do the Decal listings come out for Fall 2010?

I believe 7A is pre-modern Chinese literature. I could be wrong. The class is taught in english.

Yes, you are correct, it’s Intro to Pre-modern Chinese literature.

So I guess the readings will also be done in English. OK I was just wondering, thanks!

k well Orientation is in just a few days (June 4-5) for me, and let’s see if I can get any more opinions.

FIRST SEMESTER FRESHMAN YEAR PROPOSED SCHEDULE:
