Official seo 2010-2011 thread!!!!

I’m a junior and yes I’ve reached out to the recruiter, I’ve actually known the recruiter for a few years now… At the schools and from speaking to people I know, generally the girls who aren’t as qualified receive calls.

I can’t be too angry, I do have an offer for SA at a BB through networking, but I was looking forward to accessing the SEO alum database as well as the various events where you can meet top executives at firms. On top of that, SEO is a whole lot less work than trying to network in from a non target.

Check out WSO and speak to your alums to see what they say about SEO kids. Ranges from “mixed bag” to much worse things. SEO is seen as a backdoor into banking, which it is, but coming from a non target, it shouldn’t matter to you. If you kill it during the summer, you’re a rock star no matter how you got the internship.

people complaining about seo are the same people complaining about urms getting into good school and urms getting recruited for any decent job. you are dumb if you let it get to you. seo is a great opportunity and if you are already worried about what people will think about you if you enroll, even before you are extended an offer, the program isn’t for you.

they have just called me to ask some extra information about my preferences. She was really nice and helpful

has anyone else been called?

I had my phone screen in early Nov, but only received an in-person interview invitation last week, when I already gave up… I don’t really know what this means, coz I know most of you here did your in-person in Dec.

I think that means that even though you applied to the first round you were deferred to the second round. I do not know if it is good or bad.

Good luck on your interview!

wow. they contacted you after this length of time. I was beginning to give up, but now your news has given me some hope.

Good Luck with your in-person.

mapr, so u have an offer?

nop, they didn’t call me for an offer, they told me to send updated transcripts as soon as possible.

I interviewed for investment research back in Dec. If I could give you any suggestions, I’d tell you to be familiar with the trends in the markets ( nothing too technical or detailed necessarily, but definitely understand what’s going on). Also, be highly familiar with your resume and all of the experiences it purports to convey.

kc, have you heard anything since your in-person in dec?

it’s past mid-jan.
most people will be hearing back

Hey so if we do not hear back by the end of Jan. it means we did not ge in?

not necessarily. you could get knocked to second round. last year people heard back in feb…although chances of admission become slim.

@RVAfistcity: does it also apply to SEO-U candidates? I submitted my app. on Jan 1st cause I thought it was late already, but realized that the deadline is wayyyy too far away(till Feb. 25th).

I have no clue.

2 more weeks to go folks!

im getting antsy waiting!

Just got accepted earlier this evening. Feels great! My process was as follows:

-Applied for the Nov. 1 deadline
-Was offered a phone interview 2 days later
-Was offered an in-person interview 2 days after my phone interview
(interviewed in mid-December)
-Got a call a month later and was asked a few follow-up questions (last Tuesday)
-Skype call today with a few logistical questions (when can I start, updated GPA, etc.)
-Was called 1 hr. after the Skype call today and was offered a slot.
Feels good! And good luck to you all out there!

Hey Greatful:

Can you tell us what kind of questions we should expect in the Skype call? (besides the ones you mentioned)

Also what program did you apply to?

Thanks!
