Hey Techy101, you and I are born on the same day. I mean the exact same day. How wierd is that?
And anyway I didn't realize you were coloured. No wonder you took offense at what I said. I didn't mean to say coloured people had an unfair advantage, I was just kidding.

I am calm...i am calm. btw I was just kidding as well. I have no idea which one i prefer (mit or stanford). I just don't like ppl think that i didn't deserve to get into the places i get into. But everythings fine ; ) congrats on getting in TheBravery...you should have a good time

Dear Techy 101, If all of you who got in are so deserving, why are you so defensive? For the record, my son got into one of the top three rated schools in the field he is going into, and we are all happy as clams. You make assumptions about people who were not offered admission that do not necessarily apply to those people. I can think a process is unfair without being bitter about it, and I hope as you all go to college, you can entertain the thought that someone can disagree with you without being teed off. Some of the schools to which my son was offered admission rejected other students from his school that he considers just as worthy as himself. And dare I ask, Techy 101, are you a legacy, do you go to private school, do you fall into any of the categories mentioned in book that was referenced, and is it possible that at least one president's child from your school was admitted to Stanford?

Here's my take on the subject of "hey my school is better than your's and such." I think everyone, for the most part, respects each other decisions on which college he or she is going to. The only reason people are bashing on each other in this thread is because we are in the "Stanford" forum, so naturally people are going to jump on you if you mention any other school. If you were to say this on the general College Admissions forum, the general audience should most certainly respect your decision. Lets face it, this is Stanford c/o 2010 and of course they're going to show their pride. The same thing happens when someone asks about Stanford on the MIT forum, so there goes the justification for the bashings. We are all choosing the schools that will best fit us, and only we can make those decisions for ourselves. Just to let you know, I'm not Stanford '10 and just felt like posting this :)

oceanview,
I understand what you are saying, but i tend to get a little defensive when someone implies that since i am a urm, that perhaps i didn't deserve to get into a school. I have faith in the college system and i think that is where you and i differ, but we will just have to leave it at that. I am not a legacy, but i do happen to go to the school that you are talking about. I only thought you were being bitter, because you are posting on a board where ppl are expressing that they got in stanford that the college process is unfair and i think it makes ppl question (if they are a legacy/urm/whatever) if they "deserved" to get into the school. I think that if stanford accepts them, they feel they can handle the work and that this is the right place for them...i also feel that the stats you gave are a little off (but i reference a different book than you). congrats to your son. btw i don't think that the ppl who didn't get in to the schools they applied are not deserving in the least bit, they are just not what that school is looking for. I also agree with vupreuss06. : )

wow wow wow wow I feel so inferior to you people who got in with such high SAT scores...

I was accepted with only a
1980 - SAT
26- ACT
4.0 - Unweighted GPA
4.435 -Weighted GPA

Hispanic female with a normal income and an okay public high school. How was I accepted while some of you have such high SAT scores and were Denied?!?!? Am I over my head to attend Stanford! AHH you guys are geniuses for reals..

no, congratulations, i'm sure you earned it. just be sure to study your ass off at stanford so that such a pleasant surprise doesn't go to waste.
