***Official Stanford 2013 SCEA Decisions****

this isn't even circumstantial evidence, it's pure, baseless conjecture. Cal takes like 90% of students from California as opposed to 40% for Stanford.

Tyler09, look at Cal Tech. Although Cal takes like 90% of students form California, the Asian population in Californai is only like 12%. I'd say Stanford's students composition probably won't approach Cal's, but would be similar to Cal Tech's if no discrimination is practiced.

thats so illogical.

caltech to my knowledge is like 40% asian and 40% white, and most of the remaining 20% are unknowns, and there are very few african american and hispanic students. the diference between berkeley and caltech composition wise is simply that all of the urms at berkeley are instead just white at caltech.

look, if stanford didnt discriminate at all based on race, it wouldnt be too big of a difference. i think that the african american population would certainly be impacted, but this thread makes it seem like asians are superior stats-wise, which i would argue isnt even moderately true. i mean, i know some really really smart urms so id say that much of the urm population at stanford is completely legitimate.

It is my understanding that California state universities are barred from employing any sort of affirmative action program. Hence the ethnic composition. Also, public institutions, regardless of the status of "top school", are just that and are always more statistics based in the admissions process.

are we talking about race or internationals?

Hey stoompy, I'm curious why you used a fee waiver when you're family's income bracket is greater than 200k? Perhaps there are other circumstances I don't know about.

You don't have to respond. I just found that interesting. Haha.

Same here, i was like "wait.......what? Over 200,000 gs and still cant pay the fee?" Im sure there must be a reason but i thought that was strange.

^^ perfect example of why you can't tell apart those accepted to Stanford and those rejected.

I'm still in shock over this slaughter. Makes me wonder why I was chosen.

Imagine the Stanford admission office at 2am on an early Saturday morning:

"4.0 UW GPA, 36 ACT, strong ECs. Yet another strong applicant." (<-- btw my actual stats are no where near this)

"Yeah. I'm totally sick of reading files. Let's get out the dice and have some fun ... 2 means admit, 3 means defer, and 4-12 means reject"

"Wait ... wouldn't that be totally unfair?"

"Nah ... these kids and their parents will never know."

"Okay. Here it goes"

"11"

"Awww. Another reject"

"Next!"

Completely random, hence the Stanford slaughter.

JK that was a really inaccurate portrayal of the Stanford ADCOM. (HOPEFULLY --- I spent so many hours laboring over my essays)

Seriously, I really wonder what's gonna happen on April 1st 5pm when I check my e-mail. I'm assuming that I'll get an 11 (aka reject)

Alrite I read this whole thing...Anyone who is comparing an acceptance to a rejection purely on stats people are writing on a messaging board is stupid. First of all you can't really verify half this stuff, most of these posters have like 1 or 2 posts? Or atleast some of them.

Essays mean so much in the process that without reading essays or knowing their teacher recs you can't say someone deserved an acceptance over someone else. So how about you sour people shut up...you didn't get in...get over it. Hopefully you applied to more than 1 ****in college.
