Official Stanford 2013 Waitlist Discussion

I got in too. On my birthday =p. Anyways, I need to go visit and check it out… before I make my decision. Their deadline to respond is really early though…

congrats to everyone that made it off the waitlist
well you don’t have much time because they have to figure out what they’re going do with the ~700 waitlistees
the sooner the better so that the extended waitlist people can close the matter for good.

@uneverknow: i wasnt sure at first, but after the financial aid package stanford gave me, I’m def going to yale (much better financial aid)…i like yale a bit more anyway, i just HATE the cold so cali was appealing…another spot open guys =)

How many days do waitlistees have to accept Stanford?

@Guynameded- Yessss. go to yaaaleee… leeeaaave spot opeeeen… hahahaha
@Collegeccer- I believe they have till the 20th to decide. Are you on the extended waitlist too?

Yes, I’m still on the waitlist :/

Has anyone NOT heard back yet?

I think they were supposed to notify everyone by now:
[Admission News : Stanford University](<a href=“Page Not Found : Stanford University”>Page Not Found : Stanford University)

I have a feeling many people are going to decline.

Why would they decline?

They might’ve gotten attached to the schools they submitted SIRs to or the financial aid packages may have been inadequate.
A week isn’t enough time for them :frowning:
How many of the 85 would be likely to decline. Is the extended wait list yield rate close to the regular yield rate?
But if a lot of people decline, it would bring the hopes up for many of us on the extended wl, (only to get disappointed in the end =/).
I also think that many people may have chosen to leave the wait list out of frustration. But this is all baseless speculation. I don’t think I have any clue what’s going on or what these colleges are trying to do.

^^ You’re just grabbing at any bit of optimism that you can. That’s alright… I’m in the exact same predicament, and I hope for those things too. I’ve always wanted to get into Stanford, and even after being put down twice, I still want to get in. It’s not like I didn’t get in anywhere good. I’m enrolled at a very highly-revered university with a lot of generous aid. It has nothing to do with prestige… it’s just that I always liked Stanford the best for all that it is

It’s funny that you say that. I’m not optimistic right now but I think this process will be a prolonged one. If many people decline, then they’ll have to take more off the waitlist… (i.e. a 2nd round of waitlist acceptances) .
Does Stanford rank its waitlist?

Yes and no. No, because they really don’t have no.1,2,3,4 and so forth. But as we saw a few days ago, some people were sent an email asking them if they’re interested, because they’re the ones that Stanford wants to consider right now. So in a sense, even though the pool isn’t ranked, Stanford does have its shortlists, I guess.

…Unfortunately, a lot of CCers who got that e-mail didn’t get in, such as myself. oh well.

I’m pretty sure everyone got that email; the email saying that they’d like you keep you on their extended waitlist.

No, I’m talking about the email from our respective adcoms asking if we’re still interested in being considered for admission. That was before the first 85 people were taken

Ah, alright. Didn’t know which one you were talking about.

Anyone know what’s up if they haven’t sent you an email?

I know these are two completely different institutions but I was waitlisted to UChicago and many people on that forum have received emails and such about their interest in going there while I haven’t gotten a thing. I’m pretty confident that I’m not getting off their waitlist, so I hate to say this, especially since I could be totally wrong, but if you haven’t gotten the original “are you still interested in us” e-mail then it may mean you’re done. :/

I’m bumping this up…
