it wasn't copy and pasted, itsme specifically said something was handwritten at the bottom...

I'm almost sure it's a fake

it wasn't copy and pasted, itsme specifically said something was handwritten at the bottom...

It is quite easy to just copy the letter and then write the handwritten part of the letter yourself.

You are not making any sense...

itsme says they got a letter in the mail from Stanford with something handwritten at the bottom.
I still don't understand how they "copy and pasted" this physical letter, as you claim.

I still don't understand how they "copy and pasted" this physical letter, as you claim.

So he didn't get the letter by email? Hmm so you are saying that Stanford started reviewing apps 2 days ago, reviewed his ENTIRE application(essays, background, etc) and sent him a letter by mail already? It just seems too suspicious to be true.

Neither do I. So, letter-receives (hopefully me, come tomorrow X!) how was it received, post or e-mail?

conspiration theorist agalore!

this is one last time: the letter - not email - is real; i don't type too well - not on a blog post; prettykitty also reported getting the same letter, see my thread.
are there more out there? "only a handful ..." Mr. Shaw mentioned. i am curious how many out there.

Well the fact that this "letter" is now online makes it easy to copy and paste... But there is no frickin way that any of us can see the "physical letters" is there? And it is just as easy to say that something was handwritten...I can post that my teacher wrote "you got an A," but do any of you know if this is true...NO!!...same situation here

Yeah, that is very true Sal2! Scan the letter and we'll believe you, or post your stats.......I don't know why any of these people are so reluctant to do so!

Well, other schools have also sent out likely letters, too, so why not? The letter was dated the 2nd and itsme123 received the letter on the 5th, and posted the thread the next day. Seems reasonable.

schrizto, I'm sure that anyone on this site is smart enough to place a date before they "receive" something... it's a simple way to make someone believe you

BS, that's what I meant when I said "Assistant." I should have been more clear by saying "Regional." Pardon the error.

And BS, I assume that Stanford will continue courting prospective students. Given that the number of likelies is about 80-100 (and these are students who will presumably get in anywhere), I see no reason not to do everything you can to get them to come, starting as soon as possible (i.e. now).

I think that the letters could be legitimate, but the other naysayers can be easily quelled with a screenie.

Look, let's end this now, right? Do the letter recipients have digital cameras? Take a pic, put it on, and link to it. There done.

I was responding to another post who pointed out that the timing of the letter was suspicious, which I disagreed with. I wasn't using it as concrete proof that the letter is real.

I agree though, if the letter recipients really care what a bunch of nosy strangers on the internet think, then they should scan in their letters.

just take an effing picture of the letter and post a link. i personally believed this is true, but idernooooo. for some reason, some ccers feel the need to impress people they don't even know. rofl..

i should have included in my earlier post to refute a statement made by 'dpattzlover': i'm not in a low-income community. i am not a minority.

some questions about how fast the applications were reviewed are answered by the opening sentence of the letter.

you guys are missing the point. the purpose of this thread is NOT to prove anything, but simply to inform -truthfully - and to share.

I would hardly call it "information" if half the board doesn't believe you. Do everyone a favor and just put the picture in.

i scanned my letter. now where do i put it?

Did you save it as a file? Once you do that, go to imageshack or photobucket. I think one doesn't require you to sign up. Either way, it's totally free and they don't send you anything.

Upload the picture. Post the link.

For the record, I totally believe you. But it would be best I think if we had evidence. Plus, there was a huge 'scandal' before about whether you could log onto the Stanford SUNet ID or whatever as a way of prematurely checking SCEA decisions, and it was disastrous. Let's avoid anything like that, given how jittery Stanford applicants seem to be...myself included.

i'm excited.

Don't forget to include your address and social security number... for identification reasons...
