And me. :p But I didn't doubt you, really...

and me... But I do doubt this
LOL

^I agree, it'll be unfortunate.

^ very unfortunate, to say the least...
Hahaha

This is obvious a flaw. They wouldn't accept anyone until all the candidates have been considered. Seriously ...

^ to true, to true

^that's not the case. dude you guys, other schools give out likely letters too. in fact, some schools already HAVE (columbia comes to mind). stop worrying about this. and even if they are lying, why do you care so much? i said this before but there's really no point in impressing people you don't know (and the same goes for fawning over them as well).

i wasn't trying to impress anyone. i just wanted to see who else got the letter. i think everyone here who has has already said something, there can't be that many of them.

I called the Stanford admission office today (to ask my own questions and just asked them about likely letters conveniently) and it said it has not handed out any "likely letters". The person who answered my phone said "likely letters" will be sent out soon (mid to later February).

I mean, God knows who answered my phone. It might just be a janitor.

Are you saying that the info was totally inconclusive?

I am just saying don't take my info too seriously. ngolsh314 may well be telling the truth.

It seems like some people have been in frequent contact with their regional representatives (for Stanford, and other schools). 1) How did these conversations begin 2) I imagine regional representatives are extremely busy? Do they really have the time to converse with one random applicant?

I think this is legitimate... Last year, someone from my school got an early notification of his acceptance to Stanford around this time (mid-February). Now, I don't know if the letters have already been sent out or not, but Stanford has sent out letters in the past, so I see no reason to doubt this... :)

FWIW last year's thread on early approvals started at this same time...

look @ post #77 (some received it as early as 2/3).

Also, the whole point of likely letters is that they are for students that they are sure they will admit, and that they think might not attend. So they don't need to see the entire applicant pool.

Just google likely letters for Yale (I remember reading an article for it that was pretty infromative).

It seems that the letters were sent out in waves. so i believe the OP :)

Personally... I would say:

go look at the columbia university forum and see when those Likely letters out. i remember one coming out in January. So if even an Ivy can come out that early, then why not stanford
?

^ Worst logic ever. You did NOT just implicitly evaluate Columbia as better than Stanford because it's an Ivy.

^ Word.
10char

Actually, I think you are just looking at anything which could remotely be construed as attacking Stanford and then defending it without any consideration to alternative interpretations or the actual intentions of the poster.

^I agree. (10char)
