***Official Stanford RD 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread***

Name dropping won’t help. The rec will probably be beneficial for its content. :] Good luck, guys! We have something prepared

Well… on Friday, I will probably be the first person in my family to be rejected from Stanford in three generations. Ah well, as smewshie greatly quoted, at least I tried.

Good luck to everyone!

4 Pacific?

oh wow…It’s going to be an even longer day than I imagined…

I’ve pretty much given up hope. I’ve been rejected from Pomona, Swarthmore, Dartmouth, and Duke. I want to still hold out, but at this point I feel like it’s a lost cause.

Urgh, feeling insecure here, I just got rejected from Yale

I’m in pretty much the same exact situation as you, @keeidy.
Does anyone have any uplifting stories about people who got rejected from other schools but miraculously got into Stanford?

^yes, I’d like to hear some of those stories, too.

I keep getting waitlisted. Like, from everything (cept Cornell, which I got into) . It’s like them saying I was close…but still not good enough. It’s really frustrating.

I got rejected from Harvard, Yale, and Johns Hopkins, and wailisted by Vanderbilt. I probably have no chance at Stanford but I’m still hopeful :(

Just got rejected from Duke too. Bummer.

However,

West coast > East coast. :D

^ like all you guys I got rejected to all the reach schools that come out today :frowning:
Stanford’s my last hope now ha

Haha, at least we’re prepared now if we don’t get in. I feel kind of forewarned by tonight’s decision… haha  but I’m still excited, nonetheless.

I just read SIX rejection letters in a row…

At least I got into UC Berkeley though. If not… I think I would be crying on the ground.

Just waiting for Harvard and Stanford… but with what just happened today, I don’t have much hope :frowning: not that I ever did anyway. Can we please have a group hug…

^ I feel you broham. 3 rejections today.

@AforAmbition I feel your pain. Waitlist from Yale (which is pretty much a rejection IMO), and rejections from UPenn, Columbia, Princeton and Duke.

I still got into Rice, which was one of my top choices…behind Princeton and Columbia, so I’m happy and just waiting for Harvard and Stanford.

But all in all, I’m okay with the way things turned out. I got into a great school (and you too! UCBerkely is fantastic!), and this twelve year ride was amazing.

College doesn’t determine the sort of person you are, and undergrad especially doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. It’s just a four year blip in your life, and it’s what you make of it. you can rock it out at UCBerkeley if things don’t work out with Stanford and Harvard, or you can mope about it.

Cheer up and let’s get rocking to show the world that one decision, or six decisions, don’t mean a thing.

Haha try 9 rejection letters… Not even a waitlist.
I got into Northwestern though… Is there still any chance for Stanford? Sigh.

Just denied from USC and accepted to Berkley. which is good, since i never bothered to turn in my USC fin aid. Congratulations to everyone and their Ivy Leagues acceptances! for all of those who got some bad news, remember what you show in your application is only a small fraction of who you are, don’t let it get you down

Crazy to think that this time tomorrow, we’ll all know our fate. At least when it comes to Stanford :)

Rejected from Yale, waitlisted Dartmouth, Brown. Rejected Pomona- accepted JHU, Amherst College. Accepted William and Mary. Scholarships at other mid level LACs.

When it came to it, IMO, Stanford’s essays allowed me to show them who I am better then any other app. It felt good to get down on paper what I am about.

Accepted Stanford.

Hope that helps.

It’s brutal and crazy - hang in there.

^^ thank you so much!!
I’m so nervous for tomorrow. I am in love with Stanford.
Good luck to everyone! here, have some hearts <3 <3 <3

@bluegrassgrl, I felt the same way about Stanford and MIT’s apps. The shorter essays allowed for more fun and topics to talk about.
