***Official Stanford RD 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread***

Thank you for the encouragement AforAmbition. :)

Aww Feel The Love :33 . . . AHH this’ll be me in four years sigh . . . I JUST CAN’T WAIT  . . . for that rejection xD jk. . . . we’ll see.

17 people are applying this year from my school. Should I be worried?

I honestly don’t think so. I know this is a generic answer (sorry!), but if they love you, they’ll take you anyways. Speaking from experience, my school has never had 3 people accepted to Stanford, especially not all in the early round, so I thought that only one person would get in even though around 8 applied early. But, Stanford accepted 3 people from my school and broke the trend. And all 3 people were qualified. So basically, if they want you, they’ll take you regardless of the school you come from :)

Neuroscience, I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope things are getting better.

Also, you should ask your guidance couselor to mention that reason in her midyear report. Admissions officers, as it has been said repeatedly, are people, too. I’m sure they will sympathize. Don’t just assume it’s an insignificant excuse. They won’t hate you for mentioning that in your file.

Speed, I’m pretty sure that Stanford, like other insititutions of its caliber, doesn’t have quotas for certain schools. If they think you are well-qualified, they won’t keep you out simply because of your school’s large applicant pool. Good luck!

Anyone know once admits come out if there is a prospective/admitted student day/weekend in April? Date? Not admitted, just trying to plan. Thanks!

Yes, here you go:

[New Student Orientation | Undergraduate Academic Life](http://www.stanford.edu/dept/undergrad/cgi-bin/drupal_ual/APSU_NSOCalendarOverview.html)

Has anyone received likely letters from Stanford? (An acquaintance of mine received hers yesterday) =o

Maybe I didn’t state clearly - not orientation - but a chance for accepted students who are trying to decide to get an up close look at student life, mingle with students. Before someone chimes in “that’s what campus visits are for” consider that accepted but not yet decided students are a much different group than window shoppers. Thanks in advance.

berman, Admit Weekend is scheduled to begin April 26, 2012. Good luck!

I applied RD and have just been filled with nerves for the past month. Roughly two more to go! I figure if they don’t accept me, it’s not meant to be. However, Stanford has always been my dream school (as well as many of yours’), so I will be crushed if I get rejected. I think I almost fell over when I saw the amount of applications this year. Anyway, hi guys!

Zen - That’s the info I needed, thanks! B

Haha I applied to Stanford RD too but am not expecting an acceptance…

I put an event in my calendar on April 1 titled “Stanford Rejection Notification” lol.

@speed7it, we live close by an IB hs (fondly called ivy factory). i guess all of them (class size~50) apply to S. i heard last yr, 13 made it to S, 10 accepted, the other 3 went to H. where my son attended hs, there’s an average of 50-60 applicants a yr, average of 3-5 are accepted.

Do they read all of the mid-year reports? My junior year was meh, but my mid-year report is a complete turnaround. I even have grade changes from last year. Would they just throw away my application and not bother checking my mid-year?

^ They say they read every applicant but who knows.

When should we send mid-year reports in?

@yiyah123 LOL! I put that on my planner too. x)

@ just smile… the mid year reports should have already been sent in as soon as you had your mid year grades. maybe your counselor has already taken care of this. check ASAP.

@crazymomster: First semester final grades are out, but they’re still recalculating rank so I’m not sure if the new transcripts are ready. Is there a specific deadline?
