hey, I have a question…
I am an international students, for financial aid, do I need to fill the CSS and the International Student Certification of Finances Guidelines form? or just one of them?

^

you’ll need to fill in both. Submit CSS online, and fax the completed ISCoF to the FAO.

On a more fun topic… How will y’all celebrate if you’re accepted? Any parents promise to buy awesome gifts? Any parties planned?

^

I’d call my group of friends, and yell at them “STANFORD PAAYO!!” (that’d be around 5 AM local time)

and then, a small party during the afternoon.

I’m not Asian… just super-nerdy. As proof, my favorite TV show: …Star Trek TOS. XD

I don’t watch a lot of TV- epic embarrassment squick. I do read a lot of manga, though. Death Note was wonderful, though they should have stopped after… spoilers, never mind. After you-know-who got killed. Right now I like Petshop of Horrors best.

Waiting for my SAT (normal SAT, I mean) scores. On the east coast. Can’t wait to see if my math score came up any @_@

My nonacademic hobbies…
- Reading. A lot. A LOOOOOT
- Writing. Some poetry, some satire, some original fiction, some…
- …Fanfiction. ^^;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
- I dabble a lot in creative communities online. I’ve done video editing, graphics, a bit of sound editing. It kind of runs the gamut. Nothing terribly special.

@courtney: I do editing too But I feel like I’ve missed something- where’s the essay editor thing? Is it a formalized thing I’ve missed? or informal?

No idea, my mom and sister will probably take me out, but there won’t be any parties or gifts, i think…
ohhh…, just thinking about it… =D
And you?

^^^ I’d scream really loudly, text my Sekrit GF, put in my status on FB, and then go downstairs to tell my parents. It’d be at like 6 PM, so probably too late to go to dinner. But I think I’d be able to get some Thai food over the weekend 8D I’d call my best friend, too.

@wulfran
Couldn’t agree better. I really enjoyed it till then. With the SPK, it kind of lost the touch a bit. But it was still a good read + watch.

@courtney
I’d like to know about the essay edit thing too xD

Uh there’s a thread where you can sign up… Not sure exactly what it’s called… Sorry guys! It’s fascinating, but getting overwhelming. If I get in… I’m not sure. I’m really trying not to get my hopes up, but it’s hard.

ALSO
I was just reading the Stanford REA 2014 and holy ****. People got MEAN when they didn’t get accepted. Like, the day acceptances came out there were like 23985704398750 different catfights on the post. We gotta make sure that doesn’t happen to us…

^^ o_o;; I read that thread earlier in the year, but I didn’t realize it got that bad once acceptances started coming out. I didn’t want to stick around and read all the depressing statistics. Yeah, we’ve got to make sure that doesn’t happen to us.

^

my situation: I went to the thread, Dec 13 6 AM in the morning. Everyone was like accepted / deferred / rejected. I thought it was some kind of joke. I checked my email, only to find a letter of rejection there. I sent an SMS to a friend. Felt really really sad.

I think I posted only once or twice after that, before the reunion. I haven’t really looked at the fights there…

This year, accepted or not, lets all stay in touch, if that makes everyone feel better. And I hope no fights will ensue here…

I second this. College acceptance/rejection letters will never mean as much as friendships do. :)

Gahh! While I don’t particularly have my hopes up for acceptance, I don’t know what I would do if I were rejected! I imagine I would feel so ashamed, because so many people expect this out of me :(

@ courtney: I’m already mentally preparing myself for rejection, though it will be really hard when it comes to actually telling others that I got rejected. :/

I’m telling myself it’ll be okay to be rejected, but reality—I’d be very sad.
But honestly, I know it’s not the end of the world because I know so many graduates who were rejected/deferred->rejected from Stanford, but still were accepted to Harvard/Princeton/other Ivies + prestigious schools. :]

and yes, let’s not be mean. Or too celebratory. We’re all good people here! Regardless of your acceptance/deferral/rejection, we all have our stories, and I respect y’all for yours.

Not sure what I’ll do if I’m accepted. To be honest, I’d reread the email like 23410298490128 times to ensure that I’m not misreading the letter. I probably won’t do the public online celebration (like facebook and whatnot) until my teachers know about it in person, because they deserve to get that kind of information first after being such an integral part of my application process. Then call up a few friends/family, and eventually go all out?

If I’m deferred, I’d honestly give up. Not because I hate Stanford, but because realistically, it wouldn’t be worth the hope to keep holding on only to face the 90% chance for rejection.

If I’m rejected, I’d be a bit depressed, eat lots of dessert, and my life will be okay. :]

p.s.
doesn’t it suck to have a huge expectation on you? My entire community is betting that I’d make it. But Stanford is Stanford—no one knows why they made it, and no one knows why they got rejected.
@___@

can we get over this rejection depression on the thread already?

Lets talk about music :D

What kind?

CLASSICAL. (sorry, I am a pianist after all)
glee <3
Old Soundtracks (Ennio Morricone, Singin’ in the Rain, Breakfast at Tiffany, etc. anyone?)
Musical soundtracks (Phantom, Les Mis, RENT <3, Legally Blonde, West Side Story, etc)
Disney (Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, Hercules, etc)
my a’cappella music
contemp. (but recently I’ve been pretty slow w/ the updates xD)
JAZZ
every once in a while, blues :D

COUNTRY. Zac Brown Band=LOVE

Oh my guysss!!! Application due in basically a week! I need to get my essays done before Halloween weekend, down here in Miami we do it BIG. Swedish House Mafia coming down Saturday and Steve Aoki on Sunday, so definitely no time to touch up essays then.

LEGACY KIDS IN THE HOUSE HOLLA

Anything but country. XD or some folk. Or stuff where they’re screaming so much you can’t tell what they’re saying. Yeah, pretty much everything else but that. (Even rap.)

I love soundtrack music.
