Official Stanford SCEA 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread

Is it true that there is no verification that our Arts Supplements have been received?

i wonder if having an interview puts you into a different pool of applicants…

@Newtocollege, I sent an academic supplement and called to see if they had received it. They said the pile of supplementary materials that they’re receiving is too large, so they can’t provide that verification for anyone.

When do decisions come out? 5PM Dec 15th? Or is it a little earlier?

December 15th is the latest they release them, but for the past few years Stanford has released REA decisions 2-6 days earlier.

I got an email inviting me to an alumni interview, but its from a no-reply email address and I don’t know how to reply! Did anyone else have this problem/know how to solve it?

@collegeinfo1994, aren’t academic supplements not allowed for Stanford?

@batfan I thought so. And seems so according to the application instructions booklet I have.

So sorry guys, I was originally thinking about applying to stanford early, so I subscribed to this thread…I applied to Harvard, and I thought I had commented on the Harvard thread, haha

^ Hey, you’re just like I was! Ex-Stanford SCEA’er/current Harvard SCEA’er here as well. To the rest of you guys: I know, I know. We’re lame for not finishing our Stanford apps in time for SCEA. :(

How many emails did you get from Stanford? Some folks have said they got two, the second one saying they are being sent a Guidebook. But I only got one, saying they received my application and how to check its status.

I got two from Common App and one from Stanford. I guess they just don’t love me :(

Your interviewer does a report, which is added to your file. It isn’t supposed to hurt your chances in any way if you don’t have one – so I assume it’s just extra information to help make the decision.

My interview was really informal and laid-back. I was only asked about 2 questions, and the rest was just conversation that flowed naturally. It was nice! So there’s nothing to be stressed out about =)

^^^ That post was intended for the user honestly, who posted wondering if interviewees are put into a different pool of applicants …I’m new to CC, and I don’t think the message was quoted.

So what are your guys’ second choice schools?
I think mine is Berkeley or USC even though they are much lower ranked. I just love Cali too much to leave.

UChicago and Duke (There’s a TIE)!!!

Hey guys I applied early to stanford too. Just wondering, is there a penalty for not doing an interview?

No, there is no penalty. But, if it is offered in your area then take advantage of it, but Stanford does NOT offer one in my area :(

erg I hate even working on other applications!! If you guys get into Stanford, how many other schools do you think you will apply to (if any)? For me, I will have already sent my UC app and some scholarship stuff, but I don’t even know if I would submit anything else!

@reenysinghasong: I’m doing 9 other privates haha.

Sorry guys, but this is off topic. But could you guys chance me please?

Thanks.
