Official Stanford SCEA 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread

I’m working on USC and johns hopkins. I already sent harvard just cuz there was no extra essay

Finishing up the UC, USC, and UPenn. Still considering Yale and Princeton.

@StanfordGirl22, jdlace, mytuesdaysmile
thanks guys!!
hopefully the mail will arrive in a few days

@Avtrox, how long ago did you submit the application? I got my email ONE day after I submitted it.

Hey guys! So on the VERY slim chance that I do get into Stanford, I will probably not even apply to most of the other schools on my list. Because I am super cheap, I was wondering if I could wait to send SAT score reports to my other schools until after the admissions decisions come out and I get my sigh rejection letter. But if I do get in, then I will have wasted a bunch of money (well like ~80 dollars). Ok wow this was very verbose  , but basically my question is: how late can one send one’s score reports to regular decision colleges?

^ Isn’t it around 2-3 weeks before the deadline? I think it might also depend if they’re mailing the scores or sending it electronically. Each school’s different.

I (almost recklessly) sent off all of my SAT scores at the beginning of October. But then I realized that I’m probably not getting into Stanford, so I most likely didn’t waste money. ):

But to be optimistic, I’ll probably not submit most of my other applications too if I do get in. Still working on essays nonetheless though just in case.

Ughh… that sinking feeling when you realize you should’ve used a different essay topic or mention an award :/

@StanfordCS, I submitted it at 2 a.m. November 1st German time. So it was still round noon Octover 31st in Pacific Standard time. Anyway I just got an email from Stanford saying all my forms/scores/essays/transcripts/letters/payment have been processed, so YAY:DD thanks again to everyone who responded to my freak-out;)

@Reeny: It takes a while to send scores, so you might as well just do it now. And if you took classes at a local cc, a lot of schools like to see those transcripts so you’ll need to expedite those and pay WAY more (not sure on the exact amount because my mom did it for me  ).

Finished a rough draft for UPenn, and I’m almost done with UCs… I think Harvard next, but I’m going to write an additional essay so that’s going to take some work.

Also, has anyone started filling out the FAFSA?

FAFSA is in January.

Can’t you do it now?

No u have to wait until january 1st

You do need to finish the CSS PROFILE by November 15th for REA, though. However, it is true that the FAFSA doesn’t get released until January 1st.

why is everyone writing new essays? i’m just recycling all my stanford ones and tweaking them a little since they all can cover such a broad range of topics.

I just had a late night random freak out session with myself about Stanford. I have been relatively cool until just now. WOW! I want to go soooo badly, sooooooooo badly.

I had one earlier today. Then I realized, it’s all out of my hands now and stressing out is not helping anything. You’ve done all that you could possibly do, and you should be proud of yourself regardless of the outcome – which you shouldn’t stress about because it’s not going to make a difference! We’ll know in time.

hear hear. still can’t help wringing with anticipation

Dapotatoman I know exactly what u mean. I can’t stop thinking about it even though I know I can’t do anything

Chill out, people! Here is the guarantee from Arizona: in 18 months, you will be very happy wherever you are, and for the vast majority of us, it won’t be Stanford.

But: Curse you, Oregon Ducks!

Turning in my CMC application today. Then I’ll only have one more to do, which I’ll do next month (it is pretty much all ready to go).
