I’m so nervous and it’s still a looooong way to go!

Is it true that in the recent past Stanford’s acceptance pool has a higher % of hook candidates (urm’s, donors, legacies, profs’ kids etc) than earlier? I tested this theory and sure enough 4 current students I know fall into the hook category, but are excellent students too. It appears that having a hook and a decent academic record (that most admits do) pretty much guarantees you acceptance. I would be curious to know what % of current students had hooks?

@stanfordready, I like your username! :)

I guess I have a hook… I am a legacy in the form of my great-uncle, who was a well-known football player for Stanford and in the NFL. However, because he’s not a direct relative (ie parent, grandparent, sibling) I’m not sure how much help that will be.

In addition, I am a student at the Stanford University Online High School, and I’m hoping that will help me because the Stanford admissions officers are well-acquainted with my high school.

Either way, I really can’t wait to know!!!

Is geography a hook? If so, I come a really underrepresented state in the West.

Will do. Thanks for the help :)

Only 13 people from my state went to Stanford a few years ago #livinginthesouthprobs

@pitabread, where did you find that stat? Just wondering because I’d like to know if my state is underrepresented in the acceptance pool.

I would also like to know

I guess it was four years ago…I’m from North Carolina

<a href=“Page Not Found : Stanford University”>Page Not Found : Stanford University;

Wow, this is great, thanks! Turns out I’m not from an underrepresented area… But that’s ok.

20-28 days to go! :)

I’m just real nervous! I really want get in, but I will be really happy at my next school so that’s okay tooooo!

hey, fyi:
my parents are stanford alums. They just got a letter from stanford talking about how they shouldn’t send hate mail if I don’t get in. The interesting bit was this line, though:
“Applicants will be informed of their decision after 3 pm (pacific time) on December 14.”
just thought y’all might be interested.

Haha . . .676 from California. . .represent!

Thanks for the link, wildcat0. It’s really interesting to so.

I personally thought more people would come from Oregon (my home state) and Nevada. Any other Oregonians on here? :)

My state is in the second tier (6-15 acceptances)

@alegollama… that’s funny haha. Hopefully we get them earlier than Dec. 14!

Has anyone seen any reports released by Stanford saying how many people applied SCEA this year? A lot of other schools, such as Yale, have already released these statistics.

@Adodie I am! I was also surprised by the Oregon tally… and I really have no idea if it’s good or bad for us haha Just hoping for the best!

My parents are as well and we also got this. We loled. Anyway, it’s nice to have an idea of when we will know!

I’m not sure how I feel about this – the school I want to go to (Stanford) just crushed the football National Championship dreams of one of my state’s teams (U of O).

I’m glad I can add yet another dimension, sports, to a forum dominated by academics. xD Have a good night, everybody!

awww well that takes all the fun out of the guessing, haha

@Adodie haha that was a crazy game. im happy they won but now the pac-12 wont get represented in the championship game…looks like it will be 7 straight for the SEC :/

and wow the 14th? i guess i’ll find out that friday after school…
