Official Stanford SCEA 2017 Applicants' Discussion Thread

Wel, why sit around?

Get out and do! :D

Hahah also it would pretty much be the letdown of the century for all of us stressballs if Stanford doesn’t release tomorrow…they’re STANFORD after all, so regardless of the “evidence”, they might have the release planned for some random day we hadn’t been considering.

@iman: The valley. Not my favorite, but I live right on the edge of the valley and hollywood, so it’s a great position to be in. I can go ANYWHERE quickly.

I am NOT going to Berkeley. I’ve already gotten into a rolling safety that I would honestly pick over Cal.

(now everyone LOL at me in April when I SIR to Cal)

Holocene I feel ya painnn  One part of me feels horrible for saying that since there are so many people at my school dying to get into Cal but honestly I’ve never liked that school :frowning: dfihsgdfiuhdufh but all these damn Ivies/top colleges are killingggg me and I just don’t know what to think anymore…college apps whyyy…

Not so obvious huh haginrainbow

My disdain for Cal has nothing to do with rankings/names/whatever. I just hate it. It sucks. It’s depressing and ugly and old. AND SUPER COMPETITIVE. I bet I would get weeded out of gen chem in like 5 minutes.

I’m dying.

ALSO - SIMR was close to a 5% admission rate, which makes Stanford’s 750/6100 seem just a tad less daunting…it’s a god-awful admission rate either way, but here’s hoping.

pretty much everybody in the top 20% of my school is applying to all top 30 schools…it’s crazy there are people applying to 20 different schools just because of their name and ranking

NO LEGIT SAME HERE. The campus is soo…blehh and the surrounding area as well…it’s honestly kind of ugly and too stereotypical “smart good student goes to Cal woohoo!” for me. I could never see myself fitting in there.

Here’s to hoping legacy + SIMR will do me in.

Yes to all of this.

Legacy also? Okay honestly you’ve got a 9999% better shot than the rest of us…if you don’t get in, I’m hopeless :’(

wow… my school is SOOO uncompetitive. i’m the only Stanford SCEA. like 90% of kids go to the state university/community college (with a 99% acceptance rate).

i’m panning on geographic minority…

If I don’t get in, it will be clear that I REALLY don’t deserve it lololol. I wish I could be more confident about it so that I could be a productive human but meh.

I was just talking to one of the girls that got into Stanford last year and goes there, and she said she was talking to the other girl who got in, and they both think I’d be perfect there.

Why can’t they work in admissions?

not a SCEA applicant, but I’ve poked my head in here before (stanford is my dreammmm. zuckerberg like guest lectures in comp sci classes with freshmen according to mis amigos) and the “not UC Berkeley” sentiment holds true for another 2017-er. telegraph has so many homeless people, and that’s where you’re supposed to go to eat and shop… please, god, stanford.

@nygiants: feel you on that legacy bump… im jealous

I think id rather go to ucla over berkeley because of the environment there. if only it wasnt SO close to home

Yeah Zuckerburg was there… yesterday? Friend posted about it; he does it every year.

The total randomness of who reads you application sucks :frowning: One of the Yale admissions reps for my region visited my school and I reallllly didn’t like her at all, which is bad since it’s like my dream school…:’(

iman: legit if I don’t get into any of my top colleges I’d 1. cry 2. question why I went through all the stress I did in high school and if it was worth it 3. choose to go to UCLA over Cal
