Holocene unfortunately the US population is increasing.

As a distraction : What are the early decision dates for other top schools? Any today? Columbia and Dartmouth were yesterday - blood bath.

Oh right it’s increasing at a decreasing rate. Still increasing, but a lot more slowly than developing countries.

CC on the days leading up to the 7th: “It will be Friday the 7th for sure.”
CC on the 7th: “Tuesday is all but confirmed.”

Nailed it.

Actually I believe the TFR for the US is currently ~1.89 and the necessary replacement TFR is ~2.1. Only reason the US population might be slightly increasing in the future would be immigration I think (other than people managing to get old as hell)

@DTXJunior
ikr we’re completely speculating

Yea immigration is a big factor. I dunno how many of those are immigrants below college age.

i honestly hate stanford more and more every day. they think they are the best college in the world, when in reality, they aren’t. colleges like harvard are better, and they still take their applicant’s feelings into consideration and tell them the release date. stanford makes us write 3 additional essays and answer dumb questions while harvard only gives an optional essay. sorry stanford, you weren’t even very relevant until like 15 years ago. they need to relax. it’s a great school, dont get me wrong, but its very arrogant. at this point, i’ll be happy with any of my other choices. if i get rejected, i wont even be mad anymore. im just kind of dissapointed that i had to apply early to this school when i couldve applied early to like northwestern or some other schools i prefer early. and i’ve been holding off on writing essays. they could released the results today if they want, but why would they care about the applicants?

sorry for that long rant, just how i’ve been feeling about stanford for the past month

@stantheman
Dude my thoughts exactly. A few months ago I would have been willing to murder to gain Stanford’s approval. Now I kinda hate Stanford, and would choose Harvard over Stanford in a split second. I just take this as a sign

@DTXJunior: Who said Friday the 7th for sure? It was merely a possible date that was based on publicly available information and historical trends. Tuesday’s a different situation - it’s a specific date apparently based on inside information.

Erm. I totally respect your opinions regarding that. But I’m definitely still in love with Stanford. Granted, it’s a bit of an abusive relationship…

@SocalPapa
lol inside information my ass, prob just gonna fizz out on us again

@AeryGold
My father went to Stanford and I even got a personal tour of the campus with a professor. It’s been my number one choice for years. But I def won’t take this crap, I’m meant to be adored and worshipped

While I feel bad that they won’t release admissions today, it definitely has not changed my overall opinion of the school, and there is definitely no school that I would choose over it. Yes, it’s going to be a rough weekend, but come on. It’s tough no matter what.

And stantheman, Stanford was absolutetly relevant 15 years ago. Maybe it wasn’t 115 years ago.

In my opinion you can’t even compare Stanford and Harvard… two completely different types of schools. I didn’t even consider Harvard for a second - only Ivy I considered was Columbia. Most of the students at Stanford would NOT fit in at Harvard. It’s not just “let’s pick between the top two ranked schools in the country”, each has its own advantages which are wildly different, IMO.

@iman
You don’t need to take this abuse! Stand up for yourself!
And lol I think stantheman meant that Stanford wasn’t considered as being quite on the ‘elite’ level of HYP 15 years ago. It just hadn’t received as much recognition at the time

@Holocene, why are you so sure that it’s not the 14th and what makes you say you can confirm it will be Tuesday?

@daniel
And Columbia would be a better fit than Harvard for a Stanford student? True they’re very different, but that doesn’t mean the disparity is so great that a student couldn’t be a good match at both schools. They are both very diverse, and I think their major differences have been a little overblown

Abuse? All this is is us overrreacting. We are incredibly nervous, and that is understandable. Every other class has gone through this, and I only hear of anyone talking about how much they love Stanford. Does a tough week really override years of fantasizing? We, myself included, need to take it a little easier.

@iman
lol well I was just kidding around when I said that. I skipped school today so I’m just a little bored. I’m actually not cutting myself

lolllll. I gave up and went to school just for something to do. Plus I might need a mental health day if I am rejected and I don’t want to miss too much.

The abuse is making me <3 Stanford more. Ya always want what ya can’t have.
